The ceremony was witnessed by Edwin Stevens and H Bridgewater. George was a shop assistant giving his address as 15 The Drive, Horsham Road in Cranleigh. His father James William Bridgewater was a storeman. Barbara was also a shop assistant living at Rosemary, Shamley Green. Her father Edwin Stevens was a gardener.2,3 George and Barbara took over from Charles Holden the running of Shamley Green Village shop when he and his wife retired in 1949.
