     Audrey Ernestine Jermyn Ford was born on 9 May 1894 in Hampstead, London, England.1 She was baptised on 30 June 1894 in Elstree, Hertfordshire, England, her parents were Charles Jermyn and Maud Jean Mary Ford.2 She married Michell Wyndham Hacket Pain, son of Wyndham Hacket Pain and Annie Michell Courage, in 1919 in St George Hanover Square, London, England, Major Michell Hacket Pain was serving in the Queens Royal Regiment and for the next sixteen years he and Audrey occupied many different houses as was the custom of military families.They came to Wonersh in 1935 when they were invited to occupy Upper Lostiford House by Mrs Wyndham Pain of Derrys Wood.3,4,5 Audrey's interest in politics began in early 1930a long before she came to Lostiford. This started at Shalford, later at Milford and later still in Wonersh. She joined the Wonersh and Blackheath branch of the Guildford Conservative Association, but this was curtailed at the outbreak of WW2.5 Audrey was Assistant Commandant of the local Red Cross detachment and spent much time lecturing on first aid.5 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Audrey was listed as living at Upper Lostiford, Wonersh, Surrey, England, with her husband Michell. Michael was a Major The Queens Royal .. In peace time Sub Director Courage and Co Ltd Director …. Corporation living with his wife with a cook. Michael was a reserve Officer in the Queens Royal and his wife Audrey was an Assistant Commandant in the British Red Cross in Surrey.6 Audrey was elected on the committee of her local Conservative branch By 1959 she had become Chairman and four years later was elected as the first woman President of Guildford Conservative Association. She was fluent in both German and French having undergone part of her schooling abroad before the first World War.4,5 Her husband Michell died in 1971 in Surrey, England.7 She died on 19 April 1996 in Wonersh, Surrey, England, at age 101 she was survived by two sons, two grandsons and a great grandson.4,8

     Harry Ernest Courage was born in 1869 in Leatherhead, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of Henry Courage and Julia Harriet Knyvett. He was a son of Henry Courage and Julia Harriet Courage in the 1871 census in Elms House, Leatherhead, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of Henry Courage in the 1891 census in The Red House, Kingston Road, Leatherhead, Surrey, England.3 He married Isabel Winifred Soames on 14 July 1892 in Holy Trinity, Chelsea, London, England, ter the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed b y Stephen Soames, Julia Soumes and Cordeleath ?. Harry like his father Henry Courage was listed as a gentleman. Isabel's father Stephen Soames was also listed as a gentleman and gave her address as 72 Cadogan Gardens.4,5 He was listed as head of household in the 1901 census in Bolney Place, Bolney, Sussex, England. Harry was a Brewery Director living with his wife and two sons with their seven servants.6 He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census in Welton House, Daventry, Northamptonshire, England. Harry was a Brewery Director living with his wife and six servants.7 He died in 1931 in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England.8

     Philip Knyvett Courage was born on 3 November 1871 in The Red House, Kingston Road, Leatherhead, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of Henry Courage and Julia Harriet Knyvett. He appeared in the household as a boarder in the 1881 census in Frant Green, Frant, Sussex, England. He was boarding with other pupils of Helen E Adams a widowed school mistress.2 He was the son of Henry Courage in the 1891 census in The Red House, Kingston Road, Leatherhead, Surrey, England.3 Philip and his fiance with I believe her parents sailed from London on 10 September 1902 bound for Wellington in New Zealand on board Turakina he was listed as a Gentleman and travelled first class.4 He married Amy Millicent Courage in 1903 in New Zealand.5 Philip and Amy arrived back in Liverpool on 1 July 1903 on board Majestic sailing from New York.6 He died on 13 November 1945 in The Grange Nursing Home, Morden, Surrey, England, at age 74 his usual address was 22 The Avenue, Preston Road in Wembley.7,8 His estate was probated on 12 April 1946 in Winchester to Bertie Lush Gerrish a retired bank manager and Frederick Douglas Hooper a bank manager and Philip Howard Morton a solicitor. His effects were valued at £90,304 2s 1d.8
