     Arthur Frederick Hoad was born in 1877 in Shere, Surrey, England.1,2 He was the son of Daniel Hoad and Mary Ann Overton.1 He was the son of Daniel Hoad and Mary Ann Hoad in the 1881 census in Pitland Street, Shere, Surrey, England.3 He was the son of Daniel Hoad and Mary Ann Hoad in the 1891 census in Feldas Bottom, Shere, Surrey, England. Arthur was a garden labourer.4 He married Bertha Jane Charman, daughter of William Charman, on 25 September 1907 in St Martin, Dorking, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Frank Charman and Frederick Short. Arthur was a gardener living in 5 Felday Cottages in Holmbury St Mary. His father Daniel was a deceased labourer. Bertha lived in 14 Home Farm Cottages in Deepdene in Dorking. Her father was William Charman a deceased labourer.5 He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census in Edenbrook Stables, Blackwater, Hampshire, England. Arthur was a domestic gardener living with his wife and daughter.6 He died in 1954 in 3 Gordon Villas, Well Path, Horsell, Surrey, England.7 He was buried on 3 August 1954 in St Mary, Horsell, Surrey, England.8
