He married Alice Mary Glew, daughter of George Leonard Glew and Sarah Ann Smith, on 30 April 1921 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Edward Gent and Richard Mould. Ernest was a labourer living in Cranleigh. His father William Pollard was also a labourer. Alice lived in Shamley Green. Her father George Leonard Glew had died.2,3 He was the son of William Pollard and Ellen Pollard in the 1921 census in Lodge Farm, Cranleigh, Surrey, England. Ernest was a gardener, his new wife was an out of work cook and housekeeper usually working for Worplesdon Hill in Woking.      Sarah Ann Smith was born on 4 March 1881 in East Grinstead, Sussex, England.1 She married George Leonard Glew, son of Thomas Glew and Mary Shepard, on 25 October 1902 in St Swithins Church, East Grinstead, Sussex, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Edward George Gibbs and Rosie Annie Elizabeth Gibbs née Marle. George was a carter living at Worsled Cottage Dunnys Mill in East Grinstead. His father Thomas Glew was deceased but had worked as a labourer. Sarah lived at Sunnyside Cottages also in East Grinstead. her father Henry Smith was a labourer.2,3 She was the wife of George Leonard Glew in the 1911 census in Shamley Green, Surrey, England. George was a carter for the nursery living with his wife and four children alll still alive.4 Her husband George died in 1916 in Stonards Cottage, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.5 She was listed as head of household in the 1921 census in Stonnards Lane, Shamley Green, Surrey, England. Sarah was a laundress at St John's Seminary living with two of her two children.6 She married George Tanner in 1923 in Hambledon, Surrey, England.7 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Sarah was listed as living at 1 South View, Sweetwater Lane, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, with her husband George. George was a gardener living with his wife and step children Cecil and Joseph and three other people (one which was redacted, their future daughter in law Caroline Perfold and her sion Michael Cecil was a foreman painter.8 Her husband George died in 1946 in Surrey, England.9 She died in 1958 in Surrey.10

     Bernard Robert Leslie Glew was born on 19 June 1916 in Shamley Green, Surrey, England.1,2 He was the son of George Leonard Glew and Sarah Ann Smith. He was baptised on 23 July 1916 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, sadly his Dad died before he was born.1 He appeared in the household as a visitor of Robert Brown and Eliza Louisa Brown in the 1921 census in 22 Lawnsmead, Wonersh, Surrey, England. Robert was a general labourer working for J Sherriff the farm bailiff at St Johns Seminary in Wonersh. He was living with his wife, widowed son William, his grandaughter Alice and a young lad who is listed as a visitor, young Bernard Glew whose father had died before he was born leaving his poor mother with a large family. It looks like Robert and Eliza may have taken him in since they were also looking after their grandaughter as her mother had recently died.3 He married Kitty Davis in 1942 in Cardiff, Glamorganshire, Wales.4 He died in 1992 in Leicestershire, England.5

As an inmate, her father being dead.2 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Cissie was listed as living at Gould Court, Sutton Road, Maidstone, Kent, England, she undertook paid domestic uties living with Harry and Amy Walshe.3 Cissie lived and worked in Maidstone, never married and I understand was fanatical abpout cricket.4 She died in 1984 in Maidstone, Kent, England.5

     Joseph George Leonard Glew was born on 19 March 1913 in Shamley Green, Surrey, England.1,2 He was the son of George Leonard Glew and Sarah Ann Smith.1 He was baptised on 13 April 1913 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.1 He appeared in the 1921 census in Convalescent Home, Lawn House, Margate, Kent, England. He was listed as a part time patient following a stomach operation.3,4 In 1936 Joseph and his brother Cecil were listed in the electroral registers as living at Stonards Lane in Shamley Green.5 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Joseph George Leonard Glew was listed as living at 1 South View, Sweetwater Lane, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, with his parents Caroline later married their son Cecil.6 He married Annwen Williams in 1940 in Pontypridd, Glamorganshire, Wales.7 Joseph appears in the UK postal service appointment book of 1950 as being the postman for Wonersh.8 He died in 1976 in Surrey, England.9

She was the daughter of Thomas Glew and Mary Glew in the 1881 census in West Marden, Sussex, England.1 She married Henry Soal on 11 December 1897 in Parish Church, Hurstpeirpoint, Sussex, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Thomas Henry Glew and Sally Sherppard Hotson. Henry was a carter his father Wlliam Soal was a labourer. Ann's father Thomas Glew was also a labourer. Bothe Henry and Ann gave Herstpierpoint as their address.2 She was the wife of Henry Soal in the 1921 census in 119 Bognor Road, Chichester, Sussex, England. Henry was a farm labourer working for Mr Eyles a dairy farmer in Grove Road, Chichester. He was living with his wife, mother in law, two of his wif'e Aunts Ann and Maria Sheppard and his niece Sally Shepard Glew whose father had recently died.3

     Thomas Henry Glew was born circa 1858 in Harting, Sussex, England. He was the son of Thomas Glew and Mary Shepard. He married Frances Caplin in 1880 in Westbourne, Sussex, England.1 His wife Frances died in 1905 in East Preston, Sussex, England.2 He was the son of Mary Shepard in the 1911 census in Sweetwater Lane, Shamley Green, Surrey, England. Thomas was a widower and is listed as having one child and it was still living. He was working as a farm labourer.3
