Walter was a carpenters apprentice.2 He married Julia Ann Bixley on 28 March 1910 in Holy Trinity, Bramley, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Thomas Tanner and Eliza Clue. Walter was a labourer, his father George Tanner was a gardiner. Julia's father Frederick Bixley was a baker.3 He was listed as head of household in the 1911 census in Birtley Road, Bramley, Surrey, England. She was baptised on 2 December 1855 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.2 She was the daughter of James Hook and Eliza Hook in the 1861 census in Spareland, Ewhurst, Surrey, England.3 She was the daughter of Eliza Hook in the 1881 census in Stroud Lane, Shamley Green, Surrey, England. Elizabeth was an unemployed domestic servant.4

She was baptised on 1 April 1860 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.2 She was the daughter of James Hook and Eliza Hook in the 1861 census in Spareland, Ewhurst, Surrey, England.3 She was a daughter of Eliza Hook in the 1871 census in Stroud Lane, Shamley Green, Surrey, England.4 She married Sidney Harvey Beattie on 26 August 1882 in Christ Church, Shamley Green, Surrey, England, after the banns head been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Herny Sargeant and Eliza Sargeant. Sidney was a baker like his father George Beattie. Catherine's father James Hook was a game keeper.5
