John Drew Colebrook was born on 30 September 1839 in Cheam, Surrey, England.1,2 He was the son of John Drew Colebrook and Mary Hammond. He was baptised on 5 January 1840 in St Lawrence, Morden, Surrey, England, his father was a butcher.3 He was the son of John Drew Colebrook and Mary Colebrook in the 1841 census in Bullock Lane Farm, Stoke D'Abernon, Surrey, England.4 He was the son of John Drew Colebrook and Mary Colebrook in the 1851 census in 2 Eastwick Lane, Great Bookham, Surrey, England.5 Oliver, Ellen and their two children, together with two of Ellen's brother Thomas and cousin John set sail on 2 April 1859 from Gravesend on the ship Whirlwind bound for Auckland in New Zealand. Ellens brother John and cousin Tom apparently travelled as steerage passengers and worked ther passage. Many of the famly suffered from sea sickness and they encountered many storms on the way. They arrived on 15 July 1959.6 After 9 weeks Thomas and John still could not find work, so they, along with two others headed off 30 miles into the bush. In 1860 Thomas went to Australia to look for work, John followed him but returned after only a short time as they considered they were better off in New Zealand.6 He married Elizabeth Harvey Hender in 1873 in New Zealand.6,7 John became a mining manager in Coromandel passing mining managers examinations and gaining the certificate. He was a member and for some time Chairmn f the Coromandel County Council amd was a past master in the Coromandel Masonic Lodge.6 He died in 1897 in Cormorandel, Auckland, New Zealand, from typhoid fever.8,6 He was buried on 15 March 1897 in Buffalo Cemetery, Cormorandel, Auckland, New Zealand, he had been in New Zealand for 30 years in the same grave as his son Frank.9

Florence's father Henry Wood Biggs was a butcher.3 The Parish Magazine of August 1918 stated: 'We are relieved to learn that Mr F H Elsley has been granted exemption from military service. His sevices to the Guildford Institute during 22 years have been so valuable as to be thought practically indispensable, and we can say the same in Wonersh.4' He died on 10 June 1944 in Surrey, England, Frederick was a licensed layreader for 50 years. Every Sunday he came out to instruct the Blackheath Sunday School.5,6
