29 October 2006 - Enstone to meet friends
We had planned to attend the VAC flyin on the previous day at Sywell.  But that dreaded wind got up and put an end to our plans.  We stayed home and sculptured our pumpkins ready for Halloween.  They are NOT intended as self portraits!

Sunday was dry and light wind so after some quick telephone calls we set off to the airfield early, remembering the clocks had "flown back" the night before.  Checking the latest Pilot magazine we discovered that there was a free landing at White Waltham, so thought we may use it to visit HW

WW2 huts at White Waltham

We liaised with our friends and agreed to meet them at White Waltham and travel in tandum.  Our free landing token was not used in the end as we took on sufficient fuel for a free landing anyway.  So Martin's magazine remains intact.

We had a short conversation with the new owner of HW and watched her taxi to the pumps before we took of with FM with John and Paul on board

It seemed strange yet comforting to fly over old routes, using the microwave tower on M40 as a good landmark.  We flew past Oakley, Bicester, Upper Heyford (now we know where to get spares for Rover cars!) and on to Enstone

Anyone want Rover parts?

We landed on Runway 08 hard and FM landed on the grass.  We were warmly welcomed by Cath and Ron who had already arrived in their Tiger Moth

We ate some very welcome bacon sandwiches and coffee and then chatted enjoying the Autumn sun.
