     Mary Ann Wetherill was born about 1823 in Spitalfields, London, England.1 She was the daughter of William Wetherill and Mary Ann ...1 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Tower Hamlets, London, England, she was listed as the daughter of William Wetherill.2 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 8 Bromwell Lane, Tower Hamlets, London, England, she was listed as the daughter of William Wetherill Mary was a boot maker.3

     Mary Mein was born on 1 May 1780.1 She was the daughter of Dr Thomas Mein and Margaret Ellis.2 She married William Proctor Smith in 1798 in Cape Town, South Africa.1,2 Mary died on 25 December 1807 in Hawkshead, Lancashire, England, aged 27.1 Mary was buried in St Andrews, Coniston, Lancashire, England, Mary was Williams first wife and he is later buried in the same grave.1

After Catherine died, the family was split up and the children, Edith was placed in a chldren's home, it is unsure what happened at this time to Lilian and Sidney.1 Edith died in 1996.1
