     John Oswald Brandreth was born on 18 July 1878 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.1,2 He was the son of William Edwin Brandreth and Frances Harriet Price.1 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 21 Lower Horselsey Fields, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Edwin Brandreth William was a scholar.3 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 20 Lower Horselsey Fields, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Edwin Brandreth John was a removal contractor.4 He married Annie Marie Lane, daughter of Richard Lane and Maria Bradley, in 1906 in Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England.1,5 John was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 21 Lower Horselsey Fields, Wolverhampton, Staffordshire, England, John was a shingler living with his wife Annie and their son Bernard.
