David Millar Robinson was born on 5 March 1874 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.1,2,3 He was the son of William Francis Robinson and Janet Ann Millar.3 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 46 Hampton Road, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William Francis Robinson.4 His father William Francis Robinson died on 1890 David was only 16 years of age. He had to support his mother and three surviving sisters.3,5 He married Jane Elizabeth Edmondson, daughter of George Firby Edmondson and Jane Elizabeth Newton, in 1899 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, Jane and David went on to have six children, Blanche Edith, Alan Millar, Mabel Monica, Freda, Olive and Winifred A.1,6 David was a clerk living at 11, Langley Avenue as listed in 1924 in the trade directory, by 1930 he was listed as a manager living at "Alanlea" in Thornaby village in a house he had built for his family. He was elected as a Conservative town councillor for Old Thornaby Ward 1927-28 and 1930-31. In his first term of office he served on the Allotments,Fire Brigade,Hackney Carriage,Maternity & Child Welfare Committees.In addition he was on the Parliamentary & General Purposes,Plans & Works and Sanitary Committees. He served on the same Committees in his second term of office with the addition of the Public Library Committee. During this term of office a Vote of Sympathy was offered on 5 May 1933 to Councillor Robinson following the death of his wife. He left the Council in October of that year. On the 12 May 1936 a Vote of Sympathy by the mayor was made on the death of ex-Councillor D.M.Robinson who was a member from August 1927-October 1933, the members stood in silence as an expression of sympathy with the Members of the Family. The Town Clerk was directed to forward a suitable letter to them.7 His wife Jane died on 28 April 1933 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, aged 58.1,8,3 He witnessed the probate of the estate of Jane Elizabeth Robinson on 22 May 1933.3 David died on 2 May 1936 in Alanlea, 488 Thornaby Road, Thornaby on Tees, Yorkshire, England, aged 62.1,9,3 His estate was probated on 20 June 1936 in Durham to Arthur Sheldon a wholesale confectioner. His effects were valued at £1,008 3s.3 David was buried in Thornaby on Tees Cemetary, Thornaby on Tees, Yorkshire, England, David and Jane lie beneath the same gravestone in Section L.3
