Thomas Moir

     Thomas Moir was born in July 1840 in England. He married Sarah Hawley, daughter of William Hawley and Elizabeth Grindler, in 1867 in Sunderland, Durham, England.1 Thomas emigrated to America in 1880. His wife and family followed in 183.2 Thomas was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 1 June 1900 in West Earie Street, Hall Bureau, Spring Valley, Illinois, USA, Thomas was described as a contractor and builder.3

In the census of 3 April 1881 in 22 Norman Street, Bishopwearmouth, Sunderland, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Sarah Moir he was scholar.2 Sarah and her children emigrated to America in 1883 following her husband who had gone previously in 1880.3 In the census of 1 June 1900 in West Earie Street, Hall Bureau, Spring Valley, Illinois, USA, he was listed as the son of Thomas Moir he was a carpenter.4
