Esie May Cooper née Bennett
     Elsie May Bennett was born on 8 August 1899 in Medway, Kent, England.1,2 She married Henry Alfred Cooper, son of Edward Thomas Cooper and Rhoda Elizabeth Gibbons, on 16 August 1924 in The Register Office, Medway, Kent, England, after a certificate was issued. The ceremony was witnessed by G E Lacey, F A Cooper and N E Bennett. Henry gave his address as 53 Queens's Road, Luton, Chatham and Elsie gave 71 Albany Road, Chatham. Henry was a labourer. There is a note in the Register to say there is a mistake that was corrected on 9 October 1924 by Henry Clother the Registrar io n the presence of HA and EM Cooper that Henry's father was called Cooper not Bennett as appears on their marriage certificate.3 Her husband Henry died on 8 March 1965 in All Saints Hospital, Chatham, Kent, England, aged 63 from chronic bronchitis. His usual address was 128 Hempstead Road, Hempstead, Gillingham, Kent.4 Elsie died on 21 April 1971 in All Saints Hospital, Chatham, Kent, England, aged 71 from congestive cardiac failure and carcinoma rectum. She lived with her daughter Norah Christina Murray at 407 Capstone Road, Luton, Chatham , who registered her death.5

     Richard George Cooper was born on 14 January 1921 in 42 Magpie Hall Road, Chatham, Kent, England, Richard's birth was registered originally under his mother's maiden name of Bennett in 1921. It was reregistered by his father 18 July 1928, Henry was a brickmaker.1 He was the son of Henry Alfred Cooper and Elsie May Bennett. He married Louisa Nellie Cass on 26 March 1939 in Zion Baptist Church, Cloves Street, Chatham, Kent, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremonty was witnessed bymadeline Frances Sophia Cass and Alfred Thomas Payne. Both Louisa and Richard gave their address as 35 Institute Road, Chatham. Richard was employed as a paper mills labourer and Louisa a wool shop assistant.2 Richard died in August 1993 in Chatham, Kent, England, aged 72.3

     Minnie Rose Gilbert was born in 1871 in Faversham, Kent, England.1,2 She was the daughter of Francis Henry Gilbert and Caroline Collingwood.3 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Brents, Preston, Kent, England, she was listed as the daughter of Francis Henry Gilbert Minnie was only one month old.4 In the census of 3 April 1881 in Shortlees, Southall, Middlesex, England, she was listed as the sister of Arthur Frederick Howell Minnie was a scholar.5 She married William James Ivory Rossiter, son of Charles Ivory and Olive Matilda Rossiter, in 1888 in Faversham, Kent, England.6 Minnie appears in different records with either the surname Ivory or Ivory Rossiter. In the census of 5 April 1891 in 7 Vicarage Street, Faversham, Kent, England, she was listed as the wife of William James Ivory Rossiter.7 In the census of 31 March 1901 in The Street, Halstow, Kent, England, she was listed as the wife of William James Ivory Ivory.8 Her husband William died on 14 November 1902 in The Warf, Lower Halstow, Kent, England.9,10 She married Raynard John Cooper, son of Edward Cooper and Jane Lockyer, on 9 October 1909 in St Bartholomew, Bobbing, Kent, England, after the banns had been read, Minnie was a widow and seems to have fibbed about her age. The ceremony was witnessed by Mercy Cooper, Jarvis Henry Rose and John Thomas Cooper. Raynard lived at Cambray Farm and was a farmer. Minnie gave her address as 14 Terrace Road, Sittingbourne.11 In the census of 2 April 1911 in Pawley Cottage, Ospringe, Faversham, Kent, England, she was listed as the wife of Raynard John Cooper.12 Raynard his wife Minnie and their children, Edward, Stanley and Constance left England on 30 April 1927 on board the Orvieto bound for Melbourne. Raynard, Minnie and Constance gave their address in UK as 11 Alderey Street, Pimlico and Raynard declared he was a farmer. While Edward and Stanley both farm labourers gave their UK address as New House Farm, Thanington, Kent.13 Minnie died on 26 August 1943 in Victoria, Australia.10 Minnie was buried in Toongabbie Cemetery, Traralgon, Victoria, Australia.10

He is clearly related as she gives her daughter his surname as one of her forenames. He is listed as a farmer.5 John died in 1849 in Reeth, Yorkshire, England.6

     Edmund Kemsley was born about 1832.1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Lyndall Bottom, Lenham, Kent, England, he was listed as a servant and waggoners mate, ag lab staying with James Alexander, a farmer of 160 acres employing five labourers.2 He married Harriet Pack, daughter of Thomas Pack and Keturah Durrell, on 30 January 1858 in Frinstead, Kent, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by John and Jane Hills. Edmund was a farm servant.3 Edmund was listed as the head of the family on the census of 7 April 1861 in The Street, Lenham, Kent, England, Edmund was an agricultural labourer living with his wife and two daughters, little Emily was only four months old.4 Edmund was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in 3 Lords Hill, Frinstead, Kent, England, Edmund was an ag lab living with his wife and children.5 His wife Harriet died on 9 December 1880 in The Green, Rodmersham, Kent, England, aged 41 from post partial haemorrhage.6 Edmund was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in The Green, Rodmersham, Kent, England, Edmund was a farm labourer living with his children.7 Edmund died on 2 July 1882 in Holly Bailes, Milstead, Kent, England, from peritonitis exhaustion. His daughter Eliza Gambell registered the death.8
