     Eliza Hancock was born about 1855 in Conisbrough, Yorkshire, England.4,3 She was the daughter of William Hancock and Hannah Biggins.5 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Post Office Street, Conisbrough, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of William Hancock she was a scholar.6 In the census of 2 April 1871 in High Street, Tickhill, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of William Hancock Eliza was a dressmaker.7 She married John Edward Greathead, son of John Greathead and Ann Morley, on 20 August 1878 in St John the Baptist, Barnsley, Yorkshire, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Charles and Elizabeth Law, John's sister and brother in law. John was a joiner and his father a shoe maker. He was baptised on 30 July 1841 in Danby Wiske, Yorkshire, England.2,6 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Streetlam, Danby Wiske, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Thomas Greathead George was a scholar.6,7 He married Jane Pickering, daughter of Peter Pickering and Mary ..., in 1866 in All Saints, East Cowton, Northallerton, Yorkshire, England, after the banns had been read on 18, 25 February and 4 March.8,9,10 George was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 at Moor Cottage, Yafforth, Yorkshire, England, George was a groom and farmed two acres of land.11 In the 1872 PO Directory George is described as a cow keeper at Little Langton.2,6

In the census of 5 April 1891 in 37 Florence Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William Greathead.5 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 28 Browns Row, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William Greathead.6 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 37 Florence Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of William Greathead Henry was an apprentice shipyard rivitter.7 James signed up for territorial force on 6 January 1915 and served in 27th Durham Light Infantry. He was aged 24 years and was described as five feet six and half inches tall, his chest measurement was 35 inches. He was released on 18 January 1816 to Armstrong Whitworth & Co Ltd, Newcastle under the authority of the War Office. He then gave his home address as 14 Park Road, Newcastle. He was returned to his unit in September 1916. By 28 October 1918 he was released to Humber Graving Dock, Immingham, unfortunately Private 3297 was not suitable to working there and was returned again to his unit on 14 December 1918 where he gave his address as 49 Hume Street, Stockton on Tees.8 He married Grace Constance Ashman in 1917 in St James, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.9,10 Henry was listed as head of household in the census of 19 June 1921 in 49 Hulme Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, Henry was loisted as James Henry and worked as a shipyard rivetter for Dorman Long and Co, in Middlesbrough but was out of work. He was living with his wife and son.11 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Henry was listed as living at 114 Londonderry Road, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, with his wife Grace. And their children Harry and Donald. Henry was a Fitters labourer.12 Henry died in 1959 in Durham, England.13 Henry was buried on 11 February 1959 in Durham Road Cemetery, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.14
