     Edith Beatrice Barry was born on 19 January 1894 in Swellendam, Cape Town, South Africa.¹ She was the daughter of Dirk Gysbert van Reenen Barry and Mary Katherine Greathead.¹ She married Wylton Vernon Hereford Hoole on 11 May 1918 in Zeerust, South Africa.¹ Edith died on 26 October 1978 in Port Elizabeth, Cape Province, South Africa, aged 84.¹
