     Robert Joseph Clarkson was born about 1871 in Leyburn, Yorkshire, England.1,2 He was the son of Raper Clarkson and Mary Reynolds.3 In the census of 2 April 1871 in East Witton, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Raper Clarkson.4 In the census of 3 April 1881 in East Witton, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Raper Clarkson Robert was a scholar.5 In the census of 5 April 1891 in Low Houses, East Witton, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Mary Clarkson Robert was a general labourer.6 He married Elizabeth Ann Mawer, daughter of William Mawer and Jane Greathead, in 1900 in Leyburn, Yorkshire, England, Elizabeth and Robert seem to have had a double wedding with Eleanor (Elizabeth's sister) and John (Robert's brother.)1,7 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Jervaulx Lane, East Witton, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Mary Clarkson Robert was a garden labourer.8 Robert died on 13 August 1948 in Wensleydale, Yorkshire, England.1,9 Robert was buried in East Witton Churchyard, East Witton, Yorkshire, England.1
