His parents were both born in South Carolina, he was described as of Mulatto race.3

     Frances Greathead was born about 1869 in Ohio, USA, On the 1880 census it is recorded that Frances does not know where her parents were born.1 In the census of 1 June 1880 in Fearing, Washington, Ohio, USA, she was listed as the servant working on the farm for John and Jane Collins. She is listed as being of white colour.2

     Jennie ... was born about 1875 in New York, New Jersey, USA, Both of Jennie's parents were born in Scotland.1 She married Frederick Greathead, son of Frederick Greathead and Margaret D Ostrander, in 1913.1 Jennie was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 January 1920 in Denver, Colorado, USA, Jennie was manufacturing in bankers suppliers living with her son Charles Briggs born New York in 1900 of New York parents. Her husband Frederick was boarding in New York.2 Jennie died before 1927.1

     John Hurd was born in March 1856 in Ontario, Canada.1 He married Martha McGuirk. John was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 1 June 1911 in 108 Jackson East, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, John was a labourer living with his wife and three children. Annie was married although I do not know where her husband was on the night of the census.2

     Annie Victoria Hurd was born in August 1883 in Ontario, Canada.1 She was the daughter of John Hurd and Martha McGuirk.1 She married Joseph H Kibble on 24 February 1902 in Wentworth, Ontario, Canada, Joseph was described as a teamster.3,4,5 In the census of 1 June 1911 in 108 Jackson East, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, she was listed as the daughter of John Hurd Annie was married but living on the night of the census with her parents. I do not know where her husband was.6

     David Stewart was born about 1858 in Arbroath, Angus, Scotland, Sadly David was never seen by his father.1 He was the son of Charles Stewart and Helen Falconer.1 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 9 East Union Street, Arbroath, Angus, Scotland, he was listed as the son of Helen Stewart David, Elizabeth and Mary Ann must have had a hard time since their father died in 1858 leaving their mother such a young widow.2
