     Herbert Percy Greathead was born on 8 June 1901 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.2,3,4 He was the son of Thomas Greathead and Annie Wilkinson. In the census of 2 April 1911 in 1 South Mount Pleasant Street, Norton-on-Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Thomas Greathead.5 In the census of 19 June 1921 in South Mount Pleasant Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Thomas Greathead Herbert was an apprentice pattern maker working like his father for Head Wrightsons and Company in Stockton on Tees.6 Herbert served with the Durham Home Guard, 102nd Battalion in WW2, he signed his papers on 10 July 1940, and stated he was living with his father on 1 South Mount Pleasant Street, Norton on Tees and left on 31 December 1945 when the Home Guard was disbanded.3 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Herbert Percy Greathead was listed as living at 1 South Mount Pleasant Street, Norton-on-Tees, Durham, England, with his parents Hertbert was a pattern maker in the Engineering Works, he was also an ARP Warden in Stockton on Tees.7 He married Ellen Findley in 1943 in Durham, England.8 He was working for Head Wrighton's in Thornaby. Her mother Annie died on 18 August 1947 aged 80.9,10 Herbert received Probate on his mother's effects on 30 September 1947 in Durham. He was a patternmaker.10 His wife Ellen died on 3 March 1948 in 22 Burgess Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, aged 47.1,11,10 Herbert received administration in Durham. He was a wood patternmaker.10 He married Ethel Smailes in 1948 in Register Office, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.12 His wife Ethel died on 1956 in Durham, England.13 Herbert died on 2 December 1964 in Portrack Hospital, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, aged 63 lived at 22 Burgess Street, Stockton on Tees since at least 1944 (see parents death certificate.)14,10 The will of Herbert was proved on 11 January 1965 in Durham to Frederick William Beston Pacey a solicitor. His effects were valued at £1339.10

     Ellen Findley was born on 2 November 1900 in Darlington, Durham, England.1,2 She married Philip Quigley in 1919 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.3 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Ellen was listed as living at 34/36 Hume Road, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, with her husband Philip. And their son Philip. Philip was a retired Police Constable and Ellen a General Dealer, shop keeper.2 Her husband Philip died on 1941 in Durham, England.4,5 She married Herbert Percy Greathead, son of Thomas Greathead and Annie Wilkinson, in 1943 in Durham, England.6 Ellen died on 3 March 1948 in 22 Burgess Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, aged 47.1,7,8 Ellen was buried on 6 March 1948 in Durham Road (C1) Municipal Cemetery, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.9,10 Ellen did not leave a will. Administration papers were issued on 16 April 1948 to her husband Herbert a wood patternmaker in Durham. Her effects were valued at £359 7s 3d.8

John Edward Anthony Greathead
     John Edward Anthony Greathead was born on 10 May 1939 in Mexborough Montague Hospital, Conisbrough, Yorkshire, England.1,3,2,4 He was the son of John Edward Greathead and Florence Barton. On 29 September 1939 in the National Register John Edward Anthony Greathead was listed as living at 2 Holywell Lane, Conisbrough, Yorkshire, England, with his parents.5 Tony was named after his father and grandfather. He won medals for cycling and fast walking and spent time in New Zealand when he was single.1

He married June Gold on 2 September 1968 in St Peter's, Conisbrough, Yorkshire, England, South Yorkshires oldest standing building 750AD.1,2,6
Tony retired in 1987 and dedicated his life to local research and published a local history boo, "Photographs of Old Conisborough" in 1991.7 Tony died on 15 January 2010 aged 70 at home from a brain tumour. He fell in the street and was pronounced dead on the scene. He had been a Night school woodwork teacher, Magistrate at Doncaster for 15 years and Justice of the Peace.1,7,8,9 John was buried on 27 January 2010 in Doncaster Crematorium, Doncaster, Yorkshire, England, following a funeral service at St Peters Parish Church, in Conisborough.10

Frederick was in the RAF during WW2 and looked very smart in his uniform.2 He married Joan M B Botten, daughter of Charles Botten and Winifred Moore, in 1940 in Dartford, Kent, England, Frederick's niece Peggy, Lilian and Arthur's daughter was one of their bridesmaids.3,2 Frederick died on 26 January 1986 in Chatham, Kent, England, aged 69.4,5 Frederick was buried on 17 February 1986 in Plumstead Cemetery, Greenwich, London, England.5

     Oswald Greathead was born on 27 September 1896 in Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of Frederick Greathead and Rose Wain Rayner. In the census of 31 March 1901 in 86 Valley Rd, Norton, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Fred Greathead.2,6 He was baptised on 21 June 1903 in St Paul, Norton Lees, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, his father Fred was a box maker and the family lived at 86 Valley Road.7 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 16 Staveley Road, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Frederick Greathead Oswald was a wood sale maker.8 In the census of 19 June 1921 in 16 Staveley Road, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of Frederick Greathead Oswald was a brass caster and the foundry Berton Brothers.9 He married Gladys Louise Eldred on 15 August 1927 in United Methodist, Oak Street, Healey, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, Oswald was a brass moulder and castor, Gladys was a wholesale tobacconist's cashier. Her father Albert as deceased and Oswald's father Fred was a packing case maker.10,11 He was a non ferrous metal worker i.e. Brass caster and moulder. He was once asked to make some gold ashtrays depicting Sir Winston Churchill.1 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Oswald was listed as living at 34 Alexandra Road, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, with his wife Gladys.
