Edna Amanda Greathead was born in March 1903 in Southampton, Ontario, Canada.3,4 She was the daughter of William Greathead and Amanda Schatz.1 In the census of 1 June 1911 in Saugeen, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada, she was listed as the daughter of William Greathead.5 In the census of 1 June 1921 in Lot 67 L R, Saugeen, Ontario, Canada, she was listed as the daughter of William Greathead.6 Edna arrived in Detroit, Michigan on 14 December 1924 accompanied by Meredith Ruttle who was her boyfriend.4 She married Meredith Lawrence Ruttle.1 Meredith was listed as a soldier in 1935 in Ward 312, Trinity, Ontario. Mrs Meredith Ruttle was listed as a patient in Mountain Sanitorium. Interestingly Viola, Meredith's former wife was listed as a nurse in Mountain Sanitorium in 1940.7 Charles was listed as a barber living with Mrs Ruttle, presumably Edna and Austin a painter in 1945 in King Street West, Hamilton.7 Meredith was listed in 1949 as a barber living in King Street, Hamilton with Edna Ruttle and Austin who was a knitter.7 Edna and Austin a press operator were living in Wellington Street South, Hamilton in 1963 and 1969.7

Meredith Lawrence Ruttle was born on 6 December 1890 in Kincardine, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada, and was the son of George and Eliza Ruttle née Wood.1,2,3 He married Viola Saloma Lowry on 15 April 1914 in Bruce County, Ontario, Canada, Meredith was a book keeper. They had two children but sadly split shortly after the second child was born in 1920.1,4 He gave his next of kin as his wife Viola Ruttle who was living at 442 Sumerset Street, Ontario on his attestation papers when he signed on on 25 May 1915 to join the 4th Infantry Brigade Head Quarters. He seems to have given an incorrect date of birth, he gave 4 December 1892. He was 5 foot 4½ inches tall with fair complexion, brown eyes and fair hair and a chest of 36 inches an dof the Methodsit faith. He had a scar on the front of his left leg.2 Edna arrived in Detroit, Michigan on 14 December 1924 accompanied by Meredith Ruttle who was her boyfriend.5 Meredith and Viola were divorced on 28 December 1933 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.1,4 He married Edna Amanda Greathead, daughter of William Greathead and Amanda Schatz.6 Meredith was listed as a soldier in 1935 in Ward 312, Trinity, Ontario. Helena Johanna Olivier was born on 12 September 1918.2 She married Ernest Gerald Greathead, son of Gerald Ernest Greathead and Johanna Ewildena Brandt, on 12 December 1941.1,2 Her husband Ernest died on 15 March 1954 aged 36 when he sustained a head injury in a motorcycle accident. Sadly the family lost contact with Helena after the funeral.1,2,3 Helena died in 2002.2

He also suffered from Jaundice, caused by a former ailment. He finally took to his bed about three weeks before his death falling into unconciousness three days befoore his death and finally passing away quietly in his sleep.1,10,11 Isabella was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 April 1891 in York Road, Hartlepool, Durham, England, Isabella is living on her own means. Her son Frederick, a joiner is living with her.12 In the census of 31 March 1901 in Cairnsmore, Eldon Grove, Hartlepool, Durham, England, she was listed as the mother in law of Francis Stephen Hogg Isabella is boarding with her daughter Louisa Hogg and her family. Her sons Francis and George are also boarding.13 Isabella died in 1904 in Knaresborough, Yorkshire, England.14
