Rosa Banthorpe

Rosa Baker née Banthorpe
     Rosa Banthorpe was born on 20 September 1880 in Henstead, Norfolk, England.1,2,3 She was the daughter of William Banthorpe and Hepzibah Elizabeth Lincoln. In the census of 3 April 1881 in The Green, Saxlingham, Norfolk, England, she was listed as the daughter of William Banthorpe.4 In the census of 5 April 1891 in New Street, Thorpe, Norfolk, England, she was listed as the daughter of William Banthorpe Rosa was a scholar.5 In 1897 the Country celebrated the Queen's diamond jubilee and there were parties in many village. Saxingham seem to have held a gathering to which Rosa attended, she is second from left in this amazing picture.6 There is a particularly wonderful picture of William and his daughter Rosa.6 In the census of 31 March 1901 in School Masters House (National Schools), Mutford, Suffolk, England, she was listed as the servant with domestic duties to Charles and Rosa Balls. Charles was a gardener and his wife Rosa a schoolmistress.7 She married Daniel Baker in 1905 in Henstead, Norfolk, England.8,9,2 Her husband Daniel died on 1918 in Hoxne, Suffolk, England, Daniel discharged himself from hospital because his wife Rosa was pregnant. He died sadly before the baby was born from acute bronchitis.10,6 There is a wonderful photograph of Rosa and her children.6 Rosa still looked a remarkably striking lady on her 90th birthday.6 Rosa died in 1973 in Hoxne, Suffolk, England.11
