     Rosa Turmaine was born in 1839 in Blean, Kent, England.1 She was the daughter of James Turmaine and Sarah Tharpe.1 She was baptised on 10 February 1839 in Sturry, Kent, England.1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Sturry Street, Sturry, Kent, England, she was listed as the daughter of Sarah Turmaine Rosa was a scholar.2 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 4 Victoria Grove, Canterbury, Kent, England, she was listed as the daughter of Sarah Turmaine.3 She died on 24 December 1873 in Canterbury, Kent, England, Rosa was a dressmaker and died from a disease of spine and brain.1,4 She was buried on 31 December 1873 in Sturry Parish Church, Sturry, Kent, England, The inscription on the gravestone reads: In affecionate rememberance of Rosa Turmaine who departed this life 24 Dec 1873 after long and painful suffering aged 32 years also of Sarah Ann Turmaine died 14 Dec 1858 aged 31 years.1

     Sarah Ann Turmaine was baptised on 22 September 1827 in St Andrews, Canterbury, Kent, England.1 She was the daughter of James Turmaine and Sarah Tharpe.1 In the census of 6 June 1841 in St Dunstans, Canterbury, Kent, England, she was listed as a servant to a lady called Mary Blake who was of independent means.2,1 Sarah died on 14 December 1858 in Blean, Kent, England, aged 31.1,3,4 Sarah was buried on 21 December 1858 in Sturry Parish Church, Sturry, Kent, England, The inscription on the gravestone reads: In affecionate rememberance of Rosa Turmaine who departed this life 24 Dec 1873 after long and painful suffering aged 32 years also of Sarah Ann Turmaine died 14 Dec 1858 aged 31 years.1

     Eliza Turmaine was baptised on 24 October 1830 in St Andrews, Canterbury, Kent, England.1 She was the daughter of James Turmaine and Sarah Tharpe.1 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Sturry Street, Sturry, Kent, England, she was listed as the daughter of Sarah Turmaine Eliza was a dressmaker.2 In the census of 2 April 1871 in The Elms, Canterbury, Kent, England, she was listed as a housekeeper to Robert Weale who was a Civil Service Poor Law Inspector.3 In the census of 3 April 1881 in London Road, Biggleswade, Bedfordshire, England, she was listed as the servant of Robert Weale who was now retired. Agnes aged 8 was visiting her. She was listed as a scholar.4,1 Eliza was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in 1 Ethelbert Villas, Canterbury, Kent, England, Eliza was living on her own and on her own means.5 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 28 St Georges Place, Canterbury, Kent, England, she was listed as the boarder in a boarding house and was living on her own means.6,1 Eliza died in 1905.7
