     Joseph Gore was born in 1883.2 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 1 Canterbury Lane, Canterbury, Kent, England, he was listed as the son of Henry aged 55 and a labourer born in Canterbury. Mary E aged 45 born in Atherston, Warwickshire was his mother. The household also consisted of his brother Henry T aged 9 born in Canterbury.3 In the census of 31 March 1901 in HMS Orlando, at anchor off Wasang, China, he was listed as an ordinary seaman in the Royal Navy.      Ethel Eliza Stroud was born on 15 October 1882 in 9 Colebran Street, Dover, Kent, England, Eliza's father's occupation was given as a coach painter.1,2 She was the daughter of Stephen Friday Stroud and Eliza Ann Honeybourne.3,4 She was baptised on 12 November 1882 in Charlton Church, Dover, Kent, England, She was later confirmed on 18 March 1898.5 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 1 Coleman Street, Charlton, Kent, England, she was listed as the daughter of Stephen Friday Stroud Ethel was a scholar.6 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 17 Pauls Place, St James, Dover, Kent, England, she was listed as the daughter of Stephen Friday Stroud Ethel was a rag sorter in paper manufacture.7 She married Ernest Edward Turmaine, son of William Turmaine and Ann Maria Dawkins, on 27 April 1907 in Parish Church, Dover, Kent, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Stephen Stroud and Edith Gertrude Turmaine. Ernest gave his occupation as a Fireman. Both Ernest and Eliza gave their addresses as 17 Pauls Place.1,8 She died on 18 December 1974 in Canterbury, Kent, England, aged 92 from pulmonary embolism, fracture of neck of femur.1
