Thomas Walter Harry Turmaine1

     Thomas Walter Harry Turmaine was born on 6 June 1922 in West Ham, London, England.1,2 He was the son of Harry Turmaine and Laura Stevens.1 He married Elizabeth Florrie Smith, daughter of Walter Ernest Smith and Florrie Chapman, on 7 October 1945 in Hornchurch, Essex, England.1 He and Elizabeth Florrie Smith emigrated on 13 July 1954 from England Their voyage out from Britain was fairly uneventful. They travelled through the Panama canal after first calling at Curacao. They saw the buoys marking the Equator and arrived in New Zealand on 19 August 1954. It was blowing a small gale and pouring with rain.1 Betty and Tom had no children.1 Thomas died in 1996.3
