     Jane Crispin was baptised on 23 November 1828 in Hinderwell, Yorkshire, England.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Crispin and Mary Jefferson.1

John Curchin

     John Curchin was born on 28 August 1810 in Spalding, Lincolnshire, England.1,2,3 He was the son of John Curchin and Sarah Cole. He married Jane Pattison on 2 October 1838 in Acklam Parish Church, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, after a licence was issued. The ceremony was witnessed by Thomas Longstaff and Catherine Pattison. John was a sailor. Jane's father Thomas was a papermaker.4,3 John was awarded his Master's Certificate of Service Number 36.685 on 18 January 1851 having completed 22 years in the British Merchant Service principally the coasting trades at the Custom House in Stockton.5 John was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Stamp Street, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, John was a master mariner living with his wife and children and visitor Sally Cole Curchin age 24 and born in Lincolnshire.6 John died on 9 January 1858 in Corporation Road, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, aged 47 from hepatic disease and convulsions. The certificate gives his age as 41 but as informant was Mary Forster of Wilson Street, Middlesbrough maybe she did not know his actual age!!2,1,7 John did not leave a will. Administration papers were issued on 15 February 1858 to his wife Jane in York. His effects were valued at under £800.8 John was buried in Oxbridge Lane Cemetery, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.1,3 John and Jane share a headstone above their grave.1,3

     John Greathead Hind was born on 13 May 1883 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.1,2,3 He was the son of John Hind and Esther Jane Greathead.1 He was baptised on 7 June 1883 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.3 In the census of 5 April 1891 in 1 West Bourne Grove, Coatham, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of John Hind John was a scholar.4 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 7 Ayresome Street, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of John Hind John was a junior clerk at the iron works.5 John's grandfather Thomas died on 15 November 1908. John, a merchants clerk received probate in London on 6 August 1909 together with his uncle Arthur Joseph Greathead and Joseph Thomas Hare both farmers.6 He married Ethel Dean in 1911 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.7 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 18 Queens Road, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the visitor staying with James and Esther Douglass, who had been married under one year. James was an engineering draughtsman at the steelworks. John was a Commercial Clerk in the ironworks. The house had six rooms.8 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 18 Queens Road, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the visitor of James Douglass his brother in law. He is a commercial clerk.8 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register John was listed as living at 11 Thackeray Grove, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, with his wife Ethel. John was a valuation surveyor for rating and iron steel works living with wife and son.9 John died on 18 April 1954 in Lothian Road, Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England, aged 70 his usual address was 11 Thackeray Grove, Lindthorpe.6,10 The will of John was proved on 9 July 1954 in Middlesbrough to his widow Ethel. His estate was valued at £767 0s3d.6

     Frances Greathead Wilkin was born about 1790.1 She was the daughter of Joseph Wilkin and Charlotte Greathead. Frances died in 1819 in Durham, England, she is described as being of Barras Bridge, age: 29.1 Frances was buried on 15 March 1819.1
