Died at the Home of Her Son R. Newton, Norfolk, Va. Last Friday Night.

A telegram last Saturday morning brought the sad intelligence that Mrs. Almira Virginia Greathead, widow of the late John W. Greathead, had passed away at the home of her son R. Newton Greathead, in Norfolk, Va., the night before. Accompanied by Newton and her daughter Miss Emily, who had been summoned to the bedside of her mother the days previous, the remains reached McConnellsburg, (PA, editor) Sunday evening. The funeral, conducted by her pastor, Rev. John V. Royer, of the M. E. church, (Methodist Episcopal, ed.) assisted by Rev. J. M. Diehl, of the Presbyterian and Rev. J. L. Grove, of the U. P. (United Presbyterian? ed.) church, took place at 3 o'clock, Monday afternoon, and interment was made in the family lot in the old Methodist graveyard. (North Third St., McConnellsburg PA ed.)

Having a desire to see her grand-children, Mrs. Greathead left her home in this place (McConnellsburg PA ed.) on the 7th day of last October (1911 ed.) for Rutledge, Delaware county, Pa., where she spent five weeks very pleasantly in the home of her son T. W. Greathead. She then went to Baltimore, took a boat, and after an all-night's ride on the Chesapeake Bay, reached the home of her son R. Newton Greathead. The ride on the boat made her a little seasick, but in a few hours after reaching Norfolk, she was rid of any unpleasant feeling, and for five of six weeks was well as usual and enjoying her visit, when she was smitten with a complication of diseases and took her bed. While everything was done that loving hands and medical skill could do for her, she passed peacefully away at 11:25 last Friday night.

Mrs. Greathead, daughter of Col. William Henry Dellinger, was born at the old Dellinger homestead near Clearspring, Md. (Maryland USA ed.) Mar ch 10, 1841. While on a visit to her sister Annie the wife of Rev. Castleman, who was pastor of the Methodist church at McConnellsburg during the late (18)50's, she met John W. Greathead to whom she was married on the second day of October, 1860, and from that time she had been a resident of McConnellsburg. Her husband died on the 17th of December of last year. (1911 ed.) To Mr. and Mrs. Greathead were born 11 children, four of whom died in infancy. Those living are Thomas Williams, Rutlege, Pa; Robert Newton, Norfolk, Va; Ormond LeRoy, Emily Virginia, and Wellesley Hux, McConnellsburg, Pa; Frank Stanley, Reno, Nev; and Charles Dellinger, Williamson, Pa. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Annie Castleman, now residing in Kelso, Washington (state ed.); and Harry Dellinger, on the old homestead, near Clearspring, Md.

Since early girlhood, Mrs. Greathead was a devoted member of the Methodist Episcopal church, and her sweet quiet life bore testimony of that constant peace that is the fruit of perfect faith in Christ.1,10 Almira was buried in Methodist Cemetery, McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania, USA.3,8
