Samuel Greathead was born on 10 March 1856 in 96 Lawley Street, Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.1,2,3,4,5 He was the son of Isaac Greathead and Ann Morrall.1 He was baptised on 6 December 1858 in St Philip, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, the family lived in Steelhouse Lane. His father was a bellowsmaker.2,3,5 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 63 Cooksey Road, Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, he was listed as a boarder of the Mole family. Samuel was a brass plate caster.6 He married Dinah Ann Westbury, daughter of Thomas Westbury, on 24 March 1883 in St Peter and Paul, Aston, Warwickshire, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by William Greathead who I guess was Samuel's brother and Frederick J Roberts. Both Samuel and Dinah signed with their mark, neither of them had been married before. They both gave the same address which looks like Carrenhall Road, Aston. Samuel was described as a castor.7,4,8,9 Samuel was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 April 1891 in 27 Millward Street, Small Heath, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, Samuel is a metal worker.10 Samuel was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 at 27 Millward Street, Small Heath, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England, Samuel was a brass strap caster.11 Samuel was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 27 Millward Street, Aston, Warwickshire, England, Samuel was a furnace man in brass casting. He lived with his wife and children in a five roomed home.12 Samuel and Dinah lived in 27 Millward Street during the 1891 and 1911 census era. They stayed their until their deaths. Their daughter Florence, her husband and family continued to live there until it was pulled down in the 1970s.4 Samuel had his own casting business, it closed with the outbreak of WWI when his son Arthur # 1989 went off to fight and there was a lack of skilled staff.13 Samuel died in 1918 in Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.14,4 Samuel was buried in May 1918 in Yardley Cemetery, Yardley Road, Birmingham, Warwickshire, England.4,15
