Ann Maria Box was born on 29 March 1867 in Christian Malford, Wiltshire, England.1 She married William Henry Tunley, son of William Tunley and Michel Bryant, on 28 January 1886 in St George's, Handsworth, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England.1 Her husband William died on 20 November 1906 in Handsworth, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, William was killed as a result of a roof fall in the pit. The actual date of the accident uncertain but believed to be about one week prior to his death. His grandson Norman Tunley apparently said that William went to the Klondike Gold Rush and returned with about £20,000, some of which he subsequently lost playing cards. The remains of this money enabled his wife Ann to bring up the remaining children after his death. It is also the reason that there was never a deck of playing cards in the Richard/Mabel household.1 Ann was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 21 Henry Street, Handsworth, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, Ann lived in the house with her children and one boarder in her five roomed home.2 Ann died on 14 April 1950 in Handsworth, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, aged 83.1 Ann was buried on 18 April 1950 in Handsworth Top Cemetery, Handsworth, Sheffield, Yorkshire, England, in Grave no 12.1
