     William Greathead was baptised on 19 January 1793 in St Mary, Whaplode, Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England.2,3,4 He was the son of Joseph Greathead and Ann Jackson. He married Ann Sherriff on 10 January 1815 in St Luke, Stickney, Lincolnshire, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Samuel Sherriff and Jonathan Phillips. William was a joiner.5 In 1817 William, a millwright appears in the Lincolnshire Settlement Examinations for Stickney.6 William was listed as the head of the family on the census of 6 June 1841 in Lammin's Lane, Stickney, Lincolnshire, England, William was a machine maker and was living with his wife and children. Also staying with them was Thomas Sherriff aged seven, presumably William's brother in law.7 His wife Ann died on 25 December 1849 in Spilsby, Lincolnshire, England.8,9,10 William was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Turnpike, Stickney, Lincolnshire, England, William was a widower and living with his son, daughter in law and Grandson. He was working as a freeholder with a threshing machine.11 William was listed as the head of the family on the census of 7 April 1861 in Jesses Pastures, Boston, Lincolnshire, England, William was listed as a widower and a retired carpenter.12 William was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in 19 Jesses Pastures, Boston, Lincolnshire, England, William was a widower and retired machine maker.13 William died on 30 May 1872 in Boston, Lincolnshire, England, aged 79.14,15 William was buried on 3 June 1872 in St Luke, Stickney, Lincolnshire, England, in the same grave as his wife.16,10,17 The will of William was proved on 12 August 1872 at Lincoln by his son John Greathead of Doncaster in the County of York. William was a yeoman.15

     Jane Greathead was born about 1827 in Bellerby, Yorkshire, England.1 She was the daughter of John Greathead and Jane Fishburn.2 In the census of 7 June 1841 in Front Street, Easington Lane, Hetton le Hole, Durham, England, she was listed as a servant of Robert a painterand Isabelle his wife.3 She married John Weatherall, son of Christopher Weatherall, on 3 April 1843 in Kelloe, Easington, Durham, England.2,4 John was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1851 at East Hetton, Durham, England, John was a coalminer, John, his wife and family also had Jane's brother George staying with them and a lodger called Oswald Hudson who was also a coal miner. The family were enumerated under the surname of Wherell.5 In the census of 7 April 1861 in 15 Australia Row, Seaham, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of John Weatherall.6 Her husband John died on 1874 in Easington, Durham, England.7 Jane died in 1889 in Easington, Durham, England.8

     John Jopling was born on 10 May 1842 in East Thickley, Bishop Auckland, Durham, England.2,3 John must have gone to Germany in the 1850's.2 He married Lisette Sophie Amalie Wundsch on 1 July 1862 in Evangelical Church, Gelsenkirchen, Germany.2 His wife Lisette died on about 1874 in Germany maybe in chiildbirth.2 He married Thomason ...2 John was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 3 April 1881 in 71 Low Moorsley, Low Moorsley, Durham, England, John was listed as a coal miner, his unmarried sister Thomasine aged 26 who was born in Sunny Brow in Durham, and his nephew John George aged 4 from Bearpath, Durham were living in the household.4 John was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in 22 Mariden Street, Westoe, Durham, England, John was a coal miner.5 John was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 47 Somerset Street, South Shields, Durham, England, John was a coal mine hewer living with his wife and children.6 His wife Thomason died on before April 1911 John is declared a widower in 1911.7 John was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 18 Somerset Street, South Shields, Durham, England, John was a widower living his tow children in their two roomed home.      William Cummings was born about 1814 in Philadelphia, Durham, England.2 He was the son of Thomas Cummings.1 He married Mary Ann Greathead, daughter of John Greathead and Jane Fishburn, on 19 April 1844 in Kelloe, Easington, Durham, England.1,3 William was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at 211 Village of East Hetton, East Hetton, Durham, England, William was living with his wife and two small sons, working as a coal miner.4 William was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in 7 Kelloe Mining, Kelloe, Durham, England, William was living with his wife and two sons William and Robert, the men were all coal miners.5 His wife Mary died on 1888 in Easington, Durham, England.6

     Sarah Liddle was born about 1823 in Greta Bridge, Yorkshire, England.2,3 She was the daughter of Thomas Liddle.1 She married George Greathead, son of John Greathead and Jane Fishburn, on 22 January 1844 in Kelloe, Easington, Durham, England.1,4 In the census of 30 March 1851 at 139 Bellinge, East Hetton, Durham, England, she was listed as the wife of George Greathead.5,6 George and Sarah travelled with their children John (manifest says aged 16 and labourer) and Frances Jane an infant on board the ship Frankin King leaving Liverpool on 26 June 1856.7 In the census of 1 June 1860 in Norwegian, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania, USA, she was listed as the wife of George Greathead.8 Her husband George died on before 1880.3 In the census of 10 June 1880 in Mt. Laffee, Schuylkill, Pennsylvania, USA, she was listed as the servant of Joseph and Elizabeth Edwards. Joseph was a miner and may have been a friend of the family following the same employment as Sarah's late husband.9
