Alice Dorothy Evans was born in July 1895 in Lewes, Sussex, England.1,2 She was the daughter of Edward Evans.3 She married Oswald Greathead, son of Edward Greathead and Annie Green, in 1920 in St Margaret, Burnley, Lancashire, England.4,5 In the census of 19 June 1921 in 22 Ardwick Street, Burnley, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the boarder of Herbert Walmsley Oswald was an electrical fitter for Allen Dent, he and his wife and son Herbert were boarding with his sister Hilda and her husband.6 Alice and her two small sons, George was only six months old left Southampton on 16 December 1923 aboard SS Minnedosa of the Canadian Pacific line. The Master was J Sibbons and the ship carried 212 passengers. They left the ship at the port of Saint John in New Brunswick, Canada. Osward, Alice's husband had preceded them in June that year.7 Alice died on 9 January 1927 in Lady Minto Hospital, Cochrane, Ontario, Canada, aged 31 from occlusions of barrata from construction bands due to a previous operation. Alice's death certificate states she had been in Canada for 4 1/2 years.8 Alice was buried on 11 January 1927 in Cochrane, Ontario, Canada.9

George Harry Greathead was born on 13 March 1923 in Burnley, Lancashire, England.1,2 He was the son of Oswald Greathead and Alice Dorothy Evans. Alice and her two small sons, George was only six months old left Southampton on 16 December 1923 aboard SS Minnedosa of the Canadian Pacific line. The Master was J Sibbons and the ship carried 212 passengers. They left the ship at the port of Saint John in New Brunswick, Canada. Osward, Alice's husband had preceded them in June that year.3 Oswald Greathead sailed on board the ship Montrose arriving at Liverpool from St John, NB Canada with his sons Herbert, George and Kenneth, only 11 months old on 12 February 1927. He gave their address in UK as 5 Kellington Street, Burnley and his occupation as electrician.4 Herbert a scholar, George a scholar and Kenneth a child sailed from Liverpool on 16 November 1928 to Montreal aboard the ship Minnedosa. They sailed using their new surname of Evans. They were met at the dock by the Salvation Army in Halifax and put aboard a train to meet their father and his new wife.5,6 Herbert, George and Kenneth all left Canada and returned to England to fight in WW2 and reportedly to get away from their step mother.6 He married Kathleen ... the settled in Birmingham for the next few years.6 George, Kathleen, Maureen and Brian sailed from Liverpool on 27 April 1957 to Quebec aboard the ship New York. George was a tool setter, they gave their address as 1 Graham Road, Yardley. They settled in Oshawa in Ontario. His older brother Herbert and his family had returned to Canada two years previously.7

Herbert's younger brother George and his wife Kathleen followed a couple of years later.3 After he emigrated back to Canada Herbert worked for Hydro Quebec, as an electrician who specilised in power stations.1 Herbert died in 1999 from stomach cancer.1
