     Hannah Mellor was born about 1809 in Royton, Lancashire, England.1 She married George Greathead, son of George Greathead and Hannah ..., on 13 July 1828 in St Mary the Virgin, Prestwich, Lancashire, England, after the banns had been read. Both were listed as from Crompton and signed with X. The ceremony was witnessed by John Grimshaw and Abraham Kay.2,1,3,4,5 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Park, Prestwich cum Oldham, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the wife of George Greathead Hannah was a cotton piecer.6 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Crompton Field, Crompton, Lancashire, England, she was listed as the wife of George Greathead.7 George and Anna are staying with his sister Margaret Hoyle and her children, her son George was a cotton mill operator. George was listed as a labourer with Robert and Miriam working a cotton mill operators.8 George was a dryer and Annie (presumably Hannah) was listed as a housekeeper. The 1865 state census taken on 1 May stated they were both born in England.9

     Robert Greathead was born about 1829 in Oldham, Lancashire, England.1 He was the son of George Greathead and Hannah Mellor.1 He was baptised on 19 April 1829 in St Peter, Oldham, Lancashire, England, He was living at Mill Bottom and his father was described as a makerup.2,3 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Park, Prestwich cum Oldham, Lancashire, England, he was listed as the son of George Greathead Robert was a cotton yarn packer.4 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Crompton Field, Crompton, Lancashire, England, he was listed as the son of George Greathead Robert was a cotton twist maker.5 George and Anna are staying with his sister Margaret Hoyle and her children, her son George was a cotton mill operator. George was listed as a labourer with Robert and Miriam working a cotton mill operators.6 Robert died on 29 September 1857 in Millbury, Worcester County, Massachusetts, USA, from consumption, he was a carrier aged 28 years 7 months 12 days.7

The ceremony was witnessed by Peter Mather and Paul Haigh. John was a coachman.2,3 His wife Eliza died on 24 April 1840 in St George Road, Manchester, Lancashire, England, from consumption.4,5 John was listed as the head of the family on the census of 6 June 1841 in Manchester, Lancashire, England, John was a coachman living with his daughter Martha.6 John was described as a Gentleman on the marriage register of his daughter Martha when she married George Taylor on 4 October 1849.3

     Amos S Gurney was born on 3 April 1890. He married Ann Selina Greathead, daughter of Henry Greathead and Georgina Gertrude Sutherland, in 1916 in Sunderland, Durham, England.1 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Amos was listed as living at 9 Neale Street, Sunderland, Durham, England, with his wife Ann. Amos was the Manager of electrical installations on board ships, new vessels and repairs.2

     Hector Annan Adams was born on 31 August 1859 in Dundee, Angus, Scotland, his parents were William Adams and Elizabeth Annan.1,2,3 He was the son of William Adams and Elizabeth Annan.1 In the census of 2 April 1871 in 16 Dover Street, Stranton, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, he was listed as the son of Elizabeth Adams Hector was a scholar.4 He married Mary Elizabeth Robson in 1883 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.1,5 Hector was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in SS Blue Bell, Manchester, Lancashire, England, Hector was the master of the ship, his wife was wih him, their children were back home in Seaton Carew.6 Hector died on 16 September 1932 in 5 Webster Avenue, Wallasey, Cheshire, England, aged 73.7 His estate was probated on 24 October 1932 in Liverpool to Hubert Fennessy Hopkins a cashier. His effects were valued at £431 17s 7d.7
