Robert Stanley Grandsen was born on 3 December 1894 in Toogang, New South Wales, Australia.2 Robert served in the Australian Army with a Service Number of N272617. He enlisted on 25 Jun 1941 in Paddington, NSW and gave his next of kin as Muriel Gransden. He was discharged on 9 Nov 1945 with the rank of Private. The posting at his discharge was 2 Farm Company AASC. He lowered his age so that he could participate in the War, when he did this he also changed his name, to Charles Stanley Gransden, so that he would not be found out. He spent most of the war at Tennants Creek in Outback Australia.3 He married Muriel Gertrude Bryant, daughter of Walter Harold Bryant and Ella Dorothea Kate Lucas, on 11 July 1918 in All Saints, Canowindra, New South Wales, Australia.1,2 Robert and Muriel are remembered to have lived at Glenorie, near Cowra, working as farmers. They worked on farms at Cowra and Eugowra, mostly share farming. They also once owned a General Store at Billimari. The New South Wales Electoral Rolls Division of Calare, Supplemental Roll of Canowindra in 1917 states Robert lived in Billimari and was a labourer, and in 1921 and 1922 a farmer. This change in status from labourer to farmer is thought to be due to receiving land from his Uncle Henry Gransden when he died in May 1921. It is believed by family members that this land was gambled away.2 Robert was buried in November 1956 in Orange Anglican Cemetery, Orange, New South Wales, Australia.2 Robert died on 25 November 1956 in Orange, New South Wales, Australia, aged 61.2
