Ada May Greathead was born on 7 September 1898 in Carterton, New Zealand, The New Zealand birth index suggests her name may have been registered as Iva May.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Ernest Frederick Greathead and Mary Toms. She married Neil Leslie Buchannan in 1923 Neil and Ada had no children.1 Ada died in 1976.1

Maud Mary Greathead was born on 18 March 1900 in Carterton, Masterton, New Zealand.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Ernest Frederick Greathead and Mary Toms. She married Edward Burling in 1922.1,4 Her husband Edward died on 1 October 1960 in New Zealand.5 Maud died on 2 June 1973 in Waikato, New Zealand, aged 73.1,5 Maud was buried in Waihi Cemetery, Waiki, Waikato, New Zealand, Edward and Maud were buried under the same gravestone.5

Leslie Seymour Greathead was born on 21 October 1903 in Carterton, Masterton, New Zealand.1,2,3 He was the son of Ernest Frederick Greathead and Mary Toms. Police had raided certain premises in Auckland and found a letter bearing the address of a house in Kent Terrace, Wellington. Mary and two of her sons Ernest and Leslie appeared in the Magistrates Court before Mr F Stilwell on 2 July 1934 as a result of the successful opium search made by the Customs officers and detectives. Mary was charged with unlawfully in possession of prepared opium and with permitting premises in Kent Terrace to be used for the storage and concealment of opium. Leslie was a baker and ship's cook was charged with being unlawfully in possession of prepared opium and with importing prepared opium. Ernest was a labourer and was charged with being unlawfully in possession of an automatic pistol and ten rounds of ammunition. All three were remanded to appear the following day. Mary and Leslie were each fined £100 and Ernest was fined £5. The opium worth £660 and the pistol with 29 rounds of ammunition were forfeited. The family later appealed but this was dismissed.4 Leslie was a baker in 6 November 1940 and 7 May 1941 Cooks and Stewards Union Steam Ship Company, Wellington, Masterton, New Zealand, when he was called up to fight in WW2.5 Leslie died on 15 January 1964 in Wellington, New Zealand, aged 60.1,6 His body was cremated on 17 January 1964 in Karori Crematorium, Karori, Wellington, New Zealand.7,8

Raymond Walter Greathead was born on 13 January 1915 in Levin, New Zealand.1,2 He was the son of Ernest Frederick Greathead and Mary Toms. He married Myrtle Iris Williamson in 1948.1,3 His wife Myrtle died on 30 September 1966 in 37 Kapiti Lane, Otaki, New Zealand.1,4 He married Gwendoline Rose Brindle in 1972 in New Zealand.1,5 Raymond died on 19 July 1990 in Levin, New Zealand, aged 75 his wife died only ten days later.1,6,7 Raymond was buried in Otaki Cemetery, Otaki Kapita Coast, Wellington, New Zealand.8

Gerald Arthur Greathead was born on 7 May 1918 in Pahiatua, New Zealand.1,2 He was the son of Ernest Frederick Greathead and Mary Toms. He married Edna Mary Slater in 1940 in New Zealand Gerald and Edna adopted several children.1,3,4 Gerald was a steward in 20 January 1942 271 The Terrace, Wellington, New Zealand, when he was called up to fight in WW2.5 His wife Edna died on 13 June 1983 in Waihi Hospital, Waihi, New Zealand, The following appeared in the New Zealand Herald - On June 13 1983 at Waihi Hospital dearly beloved wife of Gerry of 58 Kenny St Waihi and loved mother and mother-in-law of Alan and Tina (Palmerston North) Bev and Murray Kaonga (Waihi) loved nana of Clinton and Jackie, Lorraine, Josef, Angela and Geraldine. A service will be held at St John’s Anglican Church Waihi 2.30pm tomorrow (Thur) Funeral then leaving for the Waihi Lawn Cemetery. Another entry read at the Waihi Hospital loved aunty of Ron and Edna Burling and family Kaiaua RIP.1,6,7,8 Gerald died on 9 March 2013 aged 94 The New Zealand Herald wrote: Dearly loved husband of the late Edna. Loved father of Alan and Beverly (deceased) and father in-law of Murray.9 Gerald was buried on 13 March 2013 in Waihi Lawn Cemetery, Waihi, New Zealand, A service to celebrate Gerald's life was held at Waihi Memorial RSA, Seddon Street, Waihi at 1pm.9

Edward Burling was born about 1888.2 He married Maud Mary Greathead, daughter of Ernest Frederick Greathead and Mary Toms, in 1922.1,3 Edward died on 1 October 1960 in New Zealand.2 Edward was buried in Waihi Cemetery, Waiki, Waikato, New Zealand, Edward and Maud were buried under the same gravestone.2
