     Sarah Greathead was baptised on 20 March 1801 in Marske, Richmond, Yorkshire, England.1 She was the daughter of Thomas Greathead and Ruth Whitelock. She married James Christopher Thairlwall on 10 December 1840 in Marske, Richmond, Yorkshire, England, James was a grocer from Richmond.2,3,4 In the census of 6 June 1841 in East Feldom, Marske, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the sister of Matthew Greathead.5 In the census of 30 March 1851 at Bargate, Richmond, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the wife of James Christopher Thairlwall.6 Her husband James died on 1852 in Richmond, Yorkshire, England.2,7 Sarah was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in Bargate, Richmond, Yorkshire, England, Sarah had her sister and brother in law visiting her.8 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Gilling, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the sister in law of Ann Bell Sarah was an annuitant living with her sisters in law Ann Bell and Elizabeth Greathead.9 Sarah was listed as the head of the family on the census of 3 April 1881 in Newbiggin, Richmond, Yorkshire, England, she was living on her dividends.10 Sarah died in 1884 in Richmond, Yorkshire, England.11
