In the census of 3 April 1881 in Gt Francis St 9 Belvedere Place, Duddeston, Aston, Warwickshire, England, she was listed as the daughter of Richard Gill Allan Rosa was a scholar.3 Ellen was a widow when she married Richard Gill Allan. The boys then moved to the USA with their mother, living in Maine. Their father remained in England with daughter Rosa, as he was too ill to travel.1

Charles Chapman was born on 17 August 1955 in Chatham, Kent, England, His parents were Charles Roy Chapman and Bernice née Chapman. She did not have to change her name upon marriage.2,3 He was the son of Charles Roy Chapman and Bernice Chapman.2 He married Marian Huitson, daughter of Oswald Huitson and Betty Pedelty, on 29 January 1977 in St Clare's, Newton Aycliffe, Durham, England.2,4 Charles died on 16 May 1990 in London, England, aged 34 He was a Sergeant in the 3rd Battalion Queens Regiment. He was killed after an IRA bomb attack in Wembley in London.2,5 His body was cremated and his ashes are in Newton Aycliffe Cemetery, Durham.2
