     Edward Greathead was born about 1792 in Scotton, Yorkshire, England.3 He was the son of William Greathead and Elizabeth Robinson.1 He married Thomasine Ridsdale, daughter of William Ridsdale and Jane Reynold, on 17 July 1820 in Catterick, Yorkshire, England, Both were from Catterick, and could write. They married with the consent of their parents.4,5 Edward was listed as the head of the family on the census of 6 June 1841 in Scotton, Yorkshire, England, Edward was an agricultural labourer.6 Thomasine, wife of Edward was accused of stealing four pounds weight of lard from the shop of Mr Thairlwell, the mayor. She was committed for trial at the next sessions and later given bail. She appeared at the midsummer general quarters sessions in Richmond and she pleaded guilty. Two farmers who had known her from twenty years spoke up for her saying she was of excellent character. She was sent to the house of correction in Richmond for 14 days.7 Edward was listed as head of household in the census of 30 March 1851 at Scotton, Yorkshire, England, Edward was an agricultural labourer.8 Edward was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 7 April 1861 in Scotton, Yorkshire, England, Edward was an agricultural labourer.9 Edward died in 1863 in Richmond, Yorkshire, England.10 Edward was buried on 15 December 1863 in St John the Evangelist, Hipswell, Yorkshire, England.11

     Charles Albert Alexander Greathead was born on 30 August 1898 in Stepney, London, England.1,2,3,4 He was the son of Charles Albert James Greathead and Mary Ann Rushby Bolton. He was baptised on 18 September 1898 in St Faith, Stepney, London, England, his address was 57 Carlton Road, Bancroft Road, his father was listed as a painter.3 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 24 Hartland Road, West Ham, London, England, he was listed as the son of Charles Albert James Greathead.5 In the census of 2 April 1911 in 47 Eastern Road, Plaistow, West Ham, London, England, he was listed as the son of Charles Albert James Greathead He was at school.6 Charles signed up to serve in hostilities on 13 December 1916. He was five foot eight and a half inches high, his chest was measured as thirty five inches, his hair was dark brown, his eyes blue and complexion fresh, with no known wounds or scars. His service number was J63566 and he served on many ships including Pembroke I, Canada and London.7 He married Caroline Matilda Jordon in 1919 in West Ham, London, England.8 Charles and Caroline were social people. Charles was it is believed an aide to the Viceroy of India. Their son Stanley was raised for much of his childhood in India, and at one stage was unable to speak English, only Urdu. A direct consequence of being bought up by Nannys with very little parental input. Stanley was packed off to boarding school in England. There as an only child and having little support from his parents he was forced to make his own roads in life which he did, some it is believed to be quite hair raising and some pretty mundane.9 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Charles was listed as living at 24 The Meadway, Chigwell, Essex, England, with his wife Caroline. And their son Stanley.      George Ingram was born about 1814 in Bedale, Yorkshire, England.3 He was the son of Ann Ingram.3 He was baptised on 2 February 1814 in Bedale, Yorkshire, England.4 He married Elizabeth Greathead, daughter of Edward Greathead and Thomasine Ridsdale, on 18 December 1838 in Parish Church, Catterick, Yorkshire, England, after the banns had been read on 2, 9 and 16 December. The ceremony was witnessed by John Humphrey and Mary Plews. George was described as a labourer and Elizabeth a servant. No father's name was listed for George.      Thomasine Ridsdale was born on 25 December 1796.3 She was the daughter of William Ridsdale and Jane Reynold. She married Edward Greathead, son of William Greathead and Elizabeth Robinson, on 17 July 1820 in Catterick, Yorkshire, England, Both were from Catterick, and could write. They married with the consent of their parents.3,4 In the census of 6 June 1841 in Scotton, Yorkshire, England, she was listed as the wife of Edward Greathead.5 Thomasine, wife of Edward was accused of stealing four pounds weight of lard from the shop of Mr Thairlwell, the mayor. She was committed for trial at the next sessions and later given bail. She appeared at the midsummer general quarters sessions in Richmond and she pleaded guilty. Two farmers who had known her from twenty years spoke up for her saying she was of excellent character.
