Sylvia Constance Child was born on 1 April 1894 in Hersham, Surrey, England.1,2,3 She was the daughter of Stephen Ambrose Child and Mabel Gregory.1 In the census of 31 March 1901 in The Crossways, Fairmile, Cobham, Surrey, England, she was listed as the daughter of Stephen Ambrose Child.4 In the census of 2 April 1911 in The Crossways, Fairmile, Cobham, Surrey, England, she was listed as the daughter of Stephen Ambrose Child.5 She married John Stewart Noall Bernays in 1932 in Epsom, Surrey, England.6,7 John and Sylvia were living in 1938 at Greystead in Wrecclesham near Farnham in Surrey.8 Her husband John died on 5 December 1941 in El Alamein, Egypt, he was Lt Col in 2nd Battalion of Leicestershire Regiment No 11860 and was awarded the Military Cross.6,9 She witnessed the probate of the estate of Stephen Ambrose Child on 2 September 1946.10 Sylvia died in December 1975 in Richmond upon Thames, Surrey, England, aged 81.11

Miles Ambrose Gregory Child was born in 1901 in Cobham, Surrey, England.1,2 He was the son of Stephen Ambrose Child and Mabel Gregory.1 In the census of 2 April 1911 in The Crossways, Fairmile, Cobham, Surrey, England, he was listed as the son of Stephen Ambrose Child.3 Miles was on 5 July 1922 admitted into the Freedom of London by Patrimony in the Company of Clothmakers.4
Miles arrived in Southampton on 15 November 1930 on board Largs Bay from Brisbane in Australia. He was a Naval Officer and gave his address in UK as The Crossways, Cobham in Surrey.5 He witnessed the probate of the estate of Stephen Ambrose Child on 2 September 1946.6 Miles died on 4 August 1961 in 44 Hale Road, Farnham, Surrey, England, his usual address was Greystead in Wrecclesham near Farnham.7,6 His estate was probated on 4 September 1961 in London to Frederick John Oliver Prescott a solicitor. His effects were valued at £3,716 1s 5d.6

John Stewart Noall Bernays was born about 1893 he was the son of Revd. Prebendary Stewart Frederic Lewis Bernays, O.B.E., M.A., and Lilian Bernays.2 He married Sylvia Constance Child, daughter of Stephen Ambrose Child and Mabel Gregory, in 1932 in Epsom, Surrey, England.1,3 John and Sylvia were living in 1938 at Greystead in Wrecclesham near Farnham in Surrey.4 John died on 5 December 1941 in El Alamein, Egypt, he was Lt Col in 2nd Battalion of Leicestershire Regiment No 11860 and was awarded the Military Cross.1,2 John was buried He is remembered on Column 59 of the Alamein Memorial.2

Her effects were valued at £11,526 7s 3d.8

The ceremony was witnessed by Stephen A Child and Ernest H Gregory. Henry was a Lieutenant on HMS Duncan in the Royal Navy. His father George Edward Phillips was deceased and had been a Major in the Royal Engineers. Mildred was living at The Crossways, Oxshott, her father Stephen Ambrose Child was a Solicitor.3,1 Henry died in 1968 in Surrey, England.4
