Again another month checking and adding
sources
I was given a link to a superb humorous video
created by Sheila She has
kindly give me permission to add this link and she says that Tyne Tees
TV who commissioned it will be fine about this too. The link
has also been added to Henry
Greathead's page

Just where do the weeks go? My
daughter's husband's Nan
sadly died this month and to recognise the Wren branch of the family I
have done some research and added my findings to the website. Her
husband Percy's
ancestors had some tragic times.
I have investigated the Greated's from
Ireland, Montgomery's who were Greatheads, Arrowsmiths, Gardner's - all
closely related to our Greathead family. See Recent changes for
details

This month I have been
privileged to meet several "new" family members. I have
added much information and pictures to the families of Robert
Featherstone Greathead and Jane
Cartwright Greathead. I attempted buy a Greathead tonic bottle
but failed. Maybe another will come my way?
Much cleaning up has taken place.
Names added to the Rogues
Gallery pictures. Some geographical errors corrected.
Families found on previously missing census records and amazingly when I
revisit families I suddenly SEE birth, marriages and death records that I
can link to people previously unrecognised. Always worth going!!

Having re-visited many of the
old families I have added many GRO references to make sure I have
the correct dates. Having visited Genes Reunited I have a few new
contacts. I have been trying to
research the descendents of
Thomas Williams Greathead with the assistance of a gentleman in the
US. Another in Canada is related to Reuben
Francis Greathead born in Bristol and sent to Canada as a "home
child" by Dr Barnados

This month has seen me making
sense of some wills that I had and attempting to link people together.
Visits to LMA and TNA have proved fruitful. I found several St
Marylebone marriages and more data about our Excise Officers.
I now have two months free where I do not
have to produce U3A lectures so maybe I can get down to some serious
research

Once again I am experiencing
serious problems updating website. So please bear with me. If
things look a little strange do write to me
A visit to the "Who do
you think you are" exhibition in Olympia and had a very enjoyable day
looking at the stands and talking with the stall holders. I bought
Robert Blatchford's new book The Family and Local History Handbook No 11.
A very good book to have on hand, excellent articles and packed full of up
to date information. This is my personal view. I also attended
a couple of the very free good lectures

I think computers are
wonderful when everything works! But.... This months update has been
a nightmare. Many of the pages being updates manually as the I kept
getting an error message "trashed response received" from
UK2. Oh boy all done to stretch my capabilities and patience.
If you discover any problems, please let me know. I have checked as
carefully as I can but.......
Newspapers have been the main source to
which I have resorted this month. Much of the information has been
added to individual records but I do still have some that I need to ensure
I have the correct person before I allocate data. I have been amazed
at the number of Greatheads who have spent time in jail. I have
found entries for all the variants where in the newspaper they are
recorded as GREATHEAD. Does this mean they really were Greatheads?
Maybe the coming month will bring and
easier time
Next update due 31 May 2008 -

This month I have added much
to the Greated family and discovered a family story that confirmed my
thoughts that they are directly related to the Greatheds. I was off line
due to ISP problems for over a week this month, with Easter and moving my
mother in law to another house, family history has not progressed as much
as i had hoped. See the list of changes for individual changes
Next update due 30 April 2008 |

This month consists of meeting
South African "Greatheads" discovering Cooper relatives,
gathering photographs, even more census breakthroughs and adding GRO index
references. I have made the acquaintance of twelve new people this
month and have exchanged Emails with each of them with very interesting
results. See the list of changes for individual changes

Happy New Year to all
Last month I created the site using the
updated software Second Site version 2. This was a huge learning
curve and one I am still attempting to climb. Not being one to run
way, this month I took the plunge and upgraded my database software
The Master Genealogist to version 7. SS is now on version 2.4. So
please forgive me if I have been a little late in returning your
Emails. Christmas, New Year, family birthdays and learning two new
software programs have made me a little busy.
Nevertheless I have made some inroads
into cleaning up data, we have discovered some new contacts in
Canada, listing of all new and amended records appears on Recent
updates page
I have also been learning about how DNA
may help us link branches of our tree. I sincerely hope some of you
will take up this challenge. maybe we might solve which branch
Thomas Williams Greathead born in Yorkshire and emigrated to US came from.
