     John Martin was born about 1782.2 He married Charlotte Mathilde Turmaine, daughter of Noah Turmaine and Susanne Briault, on 6 February 1827 in St Mary, Dover, Kent, England, There are no known children from this marriage.1,3 John was listed as the head of the family on the census of 7 June 1841 in Burgate Street, Canterbury, Kent, England, John was on independant means and living with his wife.4,1 He died on 10 March 1854 in Petham, Canterbury, Kent, England.1 He was buried in 1854 in All Saints Church, Petham, Canterbury, Kent, England, He was buried in the Turmine family vault.5
