     Thomas Verrill was baptised on 4 May 1826 in Hinderwell, Yorkshire, England. He was the son of Francis Verrill and Rachel Unthank. He was a fisherman. He married Elizabeth Ward, daughter of Robert Ward, on 10 February 1859.

     William Verrill was born about 1829 in Staithes, Yorkshire, England.1 He was baptised on 12 January 1829.2 He was the son of Nelson Verrill and Martha Snowden. He married Mary Ann Harrison, daughter of John Harrison, on 5 November 1854 in Hinderwell, Yorkshire, England.3 William was listed as the head of the family on the census of 7 April 1861 in Back Road, Staithes, Yorkshire, England, William was a miner living with his wife and three sons, little William was only seven months old.4 William was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1871 in Meaton Square, Hinderwell, Yorkshire, England, William was an ironstone miner living with his wife and children.5 William was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 3 April 1881 in 29 Oldham Street, Skelton, Guisborough, Yorkshire, England, William was deaf and remained at home, there were two young boarders who were also ironstone miners. Thomas Park aged nineteen and Mark Lightfoot aged twelve.6 William was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in 21 Gladstone Street, Loftus, Yorkshire, England, William was described as being deaf and a miner living with his wife and grandson James W. Their son William and his family were living next door.7 His wife Mary died on 1892 in Guisborough, Yorkshire, England.1,8 In the census of 31 March 1901 in 21 Hartington Street, Loftus, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the boarder of Isaac Verrill William was a retired ironstone miner and father of Isaac.9

He was baptised on 27 March 1859 in Hinderwell, Yorkshire, England.2 In the census of 7 April 1861 in Back Road, Staithes, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Verrill.3 In the census of 2 April 1871 in Meaton Square, Hinderwell, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Verrill.4 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 29 Oldham Street, Skelton, Guisborough, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Verrill He was an ironstone miner.5 He married Margaret Park in 1883 in Loftus, Yorkshire, England.6 Nelson was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in 49 Whitecliffe Terrace, Loftus, Yorkshire, England, Nelson was an ironstone miner living with his wife and children.7 Nelson was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 8 West Terrace, Marske, Yorkshire, England, Nelson was an ironstone miner living with his wife and children. They had their niece Eliza Harrison aged 3 with them.8 Nelson was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 8 West Terrace, Marske, Yorkshire, England, Nelson was an ironstone miner living with his son and niece.9 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Nelson was listed as living at 72 Dale Street, Marske-by-the-Sea, Yorkshire, England, with his wife Margaret. Nelson was a retired ironstone miner, he was a special constable.10 Nelson died on 1 July 1944 in 72 Dale Street, Marske, Yorkshire, England, aged 85.11,12 The will of Nelson was proved on 12 October 1944 in York to his wife Margaret with Administration papers. His effects were valued at £231 15s 7d.12

In the census of 2 April 1871 in Meaton Square, Hinderwell, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Verrill.3 In the census of 3 April 1881 in 29 Oldham Street, Skelton, Guisborough, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of William Verrill He was an ironstone miner.4 He married Dinah Rowell on 14 December 1888 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.1,5,6 Isaac was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in 18 Gladstone Street, Loftus, Yorkshire, England, Isaac was an ironstone miner living with his wife and daughters.7 Isaac was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 21 Hartington Street, Loftus, Yorkshire, England, Isaac was an ironstone miner living with his children and his deaf father who was described as a boarder.8 Isaac was listed as head of household in the census of 2 April 1911 in 21 Hartington Street, Loftus, Yorkshire, England, Isaac was an ironstone miner living with his wife and children living in their five roomed home.9

     James Greathead was born on 22 February 1879 in Crook, Durham, England, I can find no birth record for James but his school record.1 He was the son of George Greathead and Mary Ann Moses.1 Nathan and James were admitted into St James's School, Clayton-le-Moors in January 1887. Their father was listed as George Greathead of 11 St James Street. The record states they were both withdrawn in September 1887.1
