In the census of 30 March 1851 at Whitby, Yorkshire, England, he was listed as the son of George Usher.1 He married Mary Spencelaugh in 1852 in Whitby, Yorkshire, England.2 George was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 3 April 1881 in 13 Sea Terrace, Stranton, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, George was a shipwright. Their grandson Jim G Hardy aged 5 a scholar and nephew John Hunter aged 23 a blacksmith were in the household.3,4 George was listed as the head of the family of on the census of 5 April 1891 in 13 Sea Terrace, Stranton, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, George was a shipwright.5
