He married Elsie Moody in September 1934 in Hartlepool, Durham, England.1,4 His wife Elsie died on April 1996 in Hartlepool, Durham, England, aged 89.5 He died on 27 November 1998 in Hospital Of God, Greatham, Hartlepool, Durham, England, aged 90.1,6,7 He did not leave a will. Administration papers were issued on 5 March 1999 in Newcastle upon Tyne to Malcolm Smith and Co, Havelock House, 24 Victoria Road, Hartlepool.
