     Avis Mabel Greathead was born on 13 April 1911 in 521 James Street North, Wentworth, Ontario, Canada.^1,2 She was the daughter of Percy Frederick Victor Greathead and Annie Rebecca Gilby.¹

     John W Featherstone married Janet Stewart Huitson, daughter of Marmaduke William Huitson and Kate Barr Malcom, in 1929 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, England.¹

     Patrick Joseph Riley was born in 1868 in Lanchester, Durham, England.¹ He married Rose Cook in 1888 in Stockton on Tees, Durham, England.² Patrick was listed as the head of the family on the census of 5 April 1891 in Gibson's Yard New Elvet, Elvetham, Durham, England, Joseph was a bootshop Manager living with his wife and children.³ Patrick was listed as head of household in the census of 31 March 1901 in 6 Bramley Street, West Hartlepool, Durham, England, Patrick was a general labourer in the steel works living with his wife and children.⁴ He married Mary Ann Greathead, daughter of Thomas Greathead and Mary Jane Gibson, on 20 December 1930 in Register Office, Lanchester, Durham, England, after a certificate was issued. The ceremony was witnessed by John C Orr and Ethel Lightfoot. Patrick was a widower and colliery storeman, he was living in a Caravan, New Acres in Stanley. His father Thomas Riley had been a general labourer but was deceased. Mary lived at 8 Elm Street in Stanley. Her father Thomas Greathead was a shot firer coal miner.^5,6 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Patrick was listed as living at 17 Mann Street, Bootle, Lancashire, England, Patrick is listed as a widower and a retired dock labourer. His wife was living with Ernest Metcalfe in 14 Noble Street, Newcastle upon Tyne and her son Thomas.⁷ Patrick died on 12 February 1944 in Stockton and Thornaby Hospital, Stockton on Tees, Durham, England, as a result of primary shock following a fracture of the femur and dislocation of the shoulder due to being knocked down by a motor omnibus. An inquest was held on 15 February 1944 and the Coroner for Stockton declared the incident and accident. He was a labourer and the address given was 24 The Square.^8,6

     Thomas William Riley was born on 6 June 1936 in Newcastle upon Tyne, Durham, England.¹ He was the son of Patrick Joseph Riley and Mary Ann Greathead. On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Thomas William Riley was listed as living at 14 Noble Street, Newcastle upon Tyne, Durham, England, with his mother.^2,3 He married Norma Richardson in 1960 in Durham, England.⁴ Thomas and Ethel managed to ake contact with each other in the 1970s, after 30 odd years apart. They never met in prson but stayed in touch exchanging letters until Thomas death in 1986.⁵ Thomas died in 1985 in Durham, England.⁶
