He was baptised on 17 June 1913 in St Peter, Tower Hamlets, London, England, his father was a labourer.2 William, Grace, Leonard and Violet are list on the 1938 electoral roll as living at 6 Jackman House in Tower Hamlets.3 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Leonard was listed as living at Friern's Hospital, Harrow, Middlesex, England, Leonard is listed as an inmate with nil as his occupation. This hospital was a psychiatic hospital, however twelve wards were taken over during WW2 for use by the Emergency Medical Service run by St Bartholomew's Hospital.4 He died in 1949 in Hendon, Middlesex, England.5

     Ernest Philip Brown was born on 4 January 1893 in Wonersh, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of Philip Brown and Edith Rose Fox. He was baptised on 5 March 1893 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, his father was a builder.2 He married Ivy Elizabeth Wood, daughter of Walter Henry Wood and Ada Carpenter, on 27 August 1921 in St Nicholas, Compton, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Walter Henry Wood, Edith Brown, Philip Brown and Ada Wood. Ernest was an electrical engineer living at Woodside in Wonersh. His father Phiip Brown was a builder. Ivy lived at Compton, her father Walter Henry Wood was an engine driver.3 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Ernest was listed as living at 24 Cressingham Road, Reading, Berkshire, England, with his wife Ivy. Ernest was an assistant engiineer for the post office.4
