Sybil Grace Redman was born on 17 February 1922 in 83 Chalden Road, Caterham, Surrey, England, her father was a houseman (Domestic Servant) and he registered the birth on 27 March 1922.1 She was the daughter of James Frederick Redman and Emily Maud Bowers. Sybil Grace Redman enlisted in the ATS at Guildford Barracks. This photograph show Sybil as appointed Lance Corporal with one long service badge denoting 2 years service she was later promoted to Full Corporal.2

She married Alec James Stokes on 17 January 1945 in Twickenham, Middlesex, England, after a licence had been issued. The ceremony was witnessed by James Frederick Redman, Kathleen Edith Goolding and Emily Maud Redman. Alec was a carpenter and joiner and gave his address as 51 West Street Farnham. His father Alexander was a bricklayer. Sybil gave her address as 4 Clarence Road, Teddington. Her father James Frederick Redman was a gardener.2,3
Her husband Alec died on 18 January 1981 in Shepway, Kent, England.4,5 She died on 21 January 2005 in Kent, England, at age 82.2,6,4

Alec James Stokes was born on 22 May 1914 in Farnham, Surrey, England.2,3 While in the Army Alec Stokes landed in Normandy and was later part of the Column which relieved Burgen Belson Concentration Camp he was a Sapper and helped build the funeral pyres to burn the bodies of the dead inmates of Belson.1 He married Sybil Grace Redman, daughter of James Frederick Redman and Emily Maud Bowers, on 17 January 1945 in Twickenham, Middlesex, England, after a licence had been issued. The ceremony was witnessed by James Frederick Redman, Kathleen Edith Goolding and Emily Maud Redman. Alec was a carpenter and joiner and gave his address as 51 West Street Farnham. Sidney George James Herbert

Sidney George James Herbert was born on 22 February 1897 in Lewisham, London, England.1,2,3 Sidney enlisted as a Gunner into the Royal Marines on 25 August 1915 as Royal Marine 14223. He served on HMS Monarch during the Battle of Jutland on 31 May 1916.3,4 He married Ada Blanche Redman, daughter of Job Redman and Louisa Mary Farnfield, on 11 October 1919 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Albert Brown and Richard Redman. Sidney was in HM Forces, his father George was a chauffeur. Ada's father Job was a tanner but deceased.5,1 Sidney completed his 7 year engagement in 1921 and left the Royal Marines.6 He witnessed the marriage of Richard Thomas Redman and Ellen Charman on 17 October 1927 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.1,7 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Sidney was listed as living at Court Pelling, Scaynes Hill, Cuckfield, Sussex, England, with his wife Ada. Sidney was a head gardener living with his wife and their son Reginald and two others presumably two more of their children.8 He died on 19 November 1957 in Royal Sussex Hospital, Brighton, Sussex, England, at age 60 from Multiple Myelomatosis. His usual address was Pellingbridge Farm Cottage, Scaynes Hill in Sussex.9,10 His estate was probated on 24 January 1958 in Lewis. Administration was issued to his widow. His estate was valued at £1,010.9
