He was the son of William Michael Seed and Bessie Lloyd Seed in the 1901 census in Avon Dale House, Aberonychan, Monmouthshire, Wales.2 He was the son of William Michael Seed and Bessie Lloyd Seed in the 1911 census in Highbury, St Lukes Place, Pontnewynydd, Monmouthshire, Wales.3 Charles attended Wonersh and Shamley Green school from 1912-1916.4 Charles served with the 28th Battalion, The London Regiment ('Artists Rifles') under training at Gidea Park in Essex (January - July 1917), training in an Officer Cadet Battalion at Pirbright (July - December 1917), service as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 12th Battalion, The London Regiment ('The Rangers') in the 175th Brigade, 58th Division, in France (February - April 1918), including periods in the front line at St Gobain west of Laon during the German offensive in March - April 1918, and his appointment as Liaison Officer to the 363rd Infantry Regiment in the French Army there and on the Somme near Villers Bretonneux where he was wounded by shrapnel (April 1918), his medical treatment, convalescence at the home of the Earl of Pembroke (Wilton House), and in Switzerland, before being appointed Assistant Auditor with the Colonial Service in Nigeria in 1921; 24 ms letters (65pp, February - April 1918.)4 He married Madge Dorothy Gordon on 28 December 1922 in Brompton Oratory, Kensington, London, England.5 Charles and Madge arrived in London with their three children Charles, Patricia and Anthony on board Llanstephen Castle from Beira. Charles was listed as a civil servant and they gave their address as Norley Gardens, Shamley Green, nr Guildford in Surrey.6 On 29 September 1939 in the National Register Charles was listed as living at Top Flat, 5 The Beach, Deal, Kent, England, with his wife Madge. Charles was a clerical civil servant.7 Lieutenant Colonel Charles Seed was a paymaster in Federated Malay States Volunteer Force and spent time during WW2 in Singapore a report was sent to his wife Madge c/o Union Bank of Australia in Perth, Western Australia. During this time he kept a diary January 1942-September 1945 which is held at Imperial War Museum.8,4 A newspaper article on 31 December celebrated Charles and Madge Seed née Gordon silver wedding on 28 December 1947. They were living in Zomba, Nyasaland at the time.9 Charles left on 28 October1951 on board the ship Granje sailing 1st class bound for Malaya. He gave his address as 16 Dover Road, Walmer and was listed as a civil servant.10 His wife Madge died in 1968 in Dover, Kent, England.11 He died on 21 December 1975 in 20 Granville Road, Walmer, Kent, England, at age 77.12,13 His estate was probated on 3 February 1976 in London. His effects were valued at £34,611.12
