The ceremony was witnessed by Robert Charles Durrant and Jessie Elizabeth Trew. Richard was a gardener and hs father David Durrant a cowman. Hilda's father Alfred William Mainard was deceased but had been a carpenter.      Flora Matilda Rooke was born in 1866 in Hambledon, Surrey, England.2 She was the daughter of Jonathan Rooke and Mary Heath.1 She was baptised on 11 November 1866 in St Peter, Hambledon, Surrey, England, her father was a labourer.3 She was a daughter of Jonathan Rooke and Mary Rooke in the 1871 census in Upper Churt, Frensham, Surrey, England.4 She was the daughter of Jonathan Rooke and Mary Rooke in the 1881 census in 29 Leopold Road, Reading, Berkshire, England. Flora was a dressmaker.5 She married Peter Simmonds, son of Henry Simmonds and Louisa Goodchild, on 19 June 1886 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Jonathan Rooke and Eliza Hardy. Peter was a labourer like his father Henry.
