William Johnson

     William Johnson was born circa 1823. He married Hannah Roberts on 11 July 1881 in St James, Hampton, Middlesex, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by George Crabb and Harriett Crabb. William was a bricklayer living in Teddington, his father John was a stonemason. Hannah's father David Wells was a Sexton. Both William and Hannah had been widowed.1,2

     Eustace Joy was born in 1850 in Puttenham, Surrey, England.1 He married Emily Ann Roberts, daughter of Samuel Roberts and Hannah Wells, on 21 November 1870 in St John the Baptist, Hampton Wick, Middlesex, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Thomas Munnar and Hannah Roberts. Eustace was a Gardener like his father William. Hannah's father Samuel was a labourer. Both Eustace and Emily were minors.2 He was listed as head of household in the 1881 census in Haskins Farm, Hascombe, Surrey, England. Eustace was a Gardener living with his wife, son and niece Rhoda Goodwin age 8 born in Brighton.3 He was listed as head of household in the 1891 census in 13 Portland Villas, Windsor Road, Teddington, Middlesex, England. Eustace was a Gardener living with his wife.4 He died in 1903 in The Cottage, Hampton Road, Hampton Hill, Middlesex, England.5 He was buried on 20 February 1903 in St James, Hampton Hill, Middlesex, England.5

He was the son of Eustace Joy and Emily Ann Joy in the 1881 census in Haskins Farm, Hascombe, Surrey, England.2 He married Florence Maud Louisa Blackhall on 29 November 1902 in St James, Hampton Hill, Middlesex, England, after the banns had been read. he ceremony was witnessed by Henry Treeves and Florence Treeves. David was a labourer and Reservist in 2nd West Surrey and gave his address as Teddington Lane, Hampton Hill. His father was a Gardener. Florence gave her address as Oak Villa, High Street, Hampton Hill, her father George had died but was an Ostler.3 His wife Florence died in 1950 in Middlesex, England.4 He died in 1951 in Ealing, London, England.5

     Florence Maud Louisa Blackhall was born circa 1872.1 She married David Alfred Joy, son of Eustace Joy and Emily Ann Roberts, on 29 November 1902 in St James, Hampton Hill, Middlesex, England, after the banns had been read. he ceremony was witnessed by Henry Treeves and Florence Treeves.      Richard Bennett was born on 10 March 1861 in Bramley, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of Ann Elliott. He was baptised on 31 March 1861 in Holy Trinity, Bramley, Surrey, England, the register states Richard was the son of Ann a widow.2,3 He was the grandson of John Elliott and Mary Elliott in the 1861 census in Bramley, Surrey, England.4 He was a son of Richard Durrant and Ann Durrant in the 1871 census in Halfpenny Farm, Shalford, Surrey, England.5 He was the son of Richard Durrant and Ann Durrant in the 1881 census in 23 Lawnsmead, Wonersh, Surrey, England. Richard was a labourer.6 He was the step son of Richard Durrant in the 1891 census in Yew Cottage, Barnett Lane, Wonersh, Surrey, England. Richard was an agricultural carter.7,8 He was the step brother of Thomas Durrant in the 1901 census in Kilner Cottage, Barnett Lane, Wonersh, Surrey, England. Richard was a carter on the farm.9 He appeared in the household as a boarder of Mary Jane Durrant in the 1911 census in Chilworth, Surrey, England. Richard was a farm carter.10 He left a will on 6 August 1937 while living in Lawnsmead, Wonersh, Surrey, England, Richard made a will on 6 August 1937 leaving all his tools and personal belongings and any monies left in his post office savings bank after all the expenses had been paid. The will was witnessed by Joseph Cragg Powell and Lily E Powell who both lived in the Post Office in Wonersh. He appointed David Durrant of Seminary Cottages to be his Executorad beneficiary.11 He appeared on the census of 29 September 1939 in the household of Herbert H Needham in 21 Lawnsmead, Wonersh, Surrey, England, Richard was a retired farm labourer living with Herbert Needham and Gertrude Hill.12 He died on 15 January 1944 in Surrey County Hospital, Redhill, Surrey, England, at age 82 from senile myocardial degeneration. M Cooke his niece informed the authorities of his death. She lived in the Seminary Cottage in Wonersh.13,11,14 He was buried on 22 January 1944 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.15 His estate was probated on 6 March 1944 in Llandudno to David Durrant of Seminary Cottage, Wonersh, a farm labourer and sole Executor. His effects were valued at £167 5s 0d.11,14
