     Margaret Douetil was born circa 1922. She married Barry Nicolas Douetil, son of Philip Victor Douetil and Dorothy Violet Grinling, in 1946 in Crewe, Cheshire, England.1 Barry and Margaret returned on 17 April 1947 arriving in Liverpool from Calcutta on board Empire Kumash travelling first class. Barry was now listed as a clerk and they gave their address as 15 Grosvenor Road, Birkdale in Lancashire.2 She died in 1966 in Surrey, England.3

     Philip Victor Douetil was born on 7 February 1893 in Cheynleigh, King Charles Road, Surbiton, Surrey, England.1 He was the son of Victor Napoleon Maglaire Douetil and Ada Mary Speakman. He was baptised on 22 March 1893 in Christ Church, Surbiton Hill, Surbiton, Surrey, England, his father was a Secretary to a Public Company.2 He appeared in the 1901 census in Enfield Lodge The Avenue, Surbiton, Surrey, England. He was a pupil.3 Philip attended Marlborough College from 1907-1911, his parents lived in Wood End in Cobham.4 Philip served in WWI in 9th Hodson's Horse Indian Army Reserve of Officers as a lieutenant.5 Sec Lieut PV Douetil attached to Indian Cavalry was reported as wounded in The Times of Monday 28 August 1916.6 He married Dorothy Violet Grinling on 23 November 1920 in St Pauls, Calcutta, Bengal, India, after the banns had been read. Philip was an assistant Secretary at the Royal Calcutta Turf Club. Dorothy's father was Harry Grinling.7,8 Philip sailed from London on 15 October 1926 on board Ranchi bound for Bombay.9 Philip left London on 10 October 1930 on board Ranpura bound for Bombay in India.9 In 1936 Philip bought the empty site on his and Dorothy's return from India, where they had run various companies in Calcutta, notably jute exporting and the Calcutta Turf Club (racecourse). The total site of the house and building the house was £26,000. They named the house Wonersh Chase. Philip had employed an interior designer on the construction, and there were carved swags in the dining room supposed to be carved by Grinling Gibbons and a black marble fireplace in the sitting room which came from a French Chateau.10 He died on 10 June 1938 in Wonersh Chase, Wonersh, Surrey, England, at age 45 he also had an address Royal Calcutta Turf Clu in Calcutta, India.11,12 He was buried on 14 June 1938 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 94a after a service in St John the Baptist Church in Wonersh.13 His estate was probated on 21 September 1938 to Dorothy Violet Douetil his widow and Roger Phipson a solicitor. His effects were valued at £18.349 11s 5d.12

     Dorothy Violet Grinling was born on 9 August 1894 in Harrow, London, England.1 She was baptised on 12 September 1894 in Little Stanmore, Harrow, London, England, her parents were Harry and Dorothy Ann Grinling.2 Dorothy sailed from Southampton on 28 November 1919 on the ship Melita bound for Bombay in India.3 Dorothy sailed on 1 October 1920 from London bound for Calcutta in India on board the ship Khyber.3 She married Philip Victor Douetil, son of Victor Napoleon Maglaire Douetil and Ada Mary Speakman, on 23 November 1920 in St Pauls, Calcutta, Bengal, India, after the banns had been read. Philip had employed an interior designer on the construction, and there were carved swags in the dining room supposed to be carved by Grinling Gibbons and a black marble fireplace in the sitting room which came from a French Chateau.6 On 26 September 1936 she was on the Viceroy of India from London bound for Bombay.3 Again she was on her travels on Strathmore leaving London 1 January 1938 bound for Bombay.3 Her husband Philip died on 10 June 1938 in Wonersh Chase, Wonersh, Surrey, England.7,8 She received the probate of the estate of Philip Victor Douetil on 21 September 1938.8 On 2 September 1939 in the National Register Dorothy was listed as living at Wonersh Chase, Wonersh, Surrey, England, Edward an architect and his wife Nancie Clifton and their daughter Ann were staying with Dorothy. There were also five servants.9 She died on 24 November 1986 in Kingswood Nursing Home, Horsham, Sussex, England, at age 92 Her death was announced in The Times in 26 November 1986.10,11 She was buried on 2 December 1986 in Wonersh and Blackheath Cemetery, Wonersh, Surrey, England, in plot 95a after a service in St John the Baptist in Wonersh.12

     Fleur Caroline Mountain was born on 22 February 1933.1 She married Dane Peter Douetil, son of Philip Victor Douetil and Dorothy Violet Grinling, in 1955 in Westminster, London, England.2 Dane and Fleur lived in 1956 in 8 Chelsea Embankment, Kensington, London, England. Peter and Caroline left Southampton on 19 March 1959 on board Queen Mary bound for New York.1 In 2002 Dane and Fleur were still living.3

     Dane Peter Douetil was born on 29 April 1927 in Cobham, Surrey, England.1,2 He was the son of Philip Victor Douetil and Dorothy Violet Grinling. He appeared on the National Register of 29 September 1939 in Northcliffe House, Upper Bognor Road, Bognor Regis, Sussex, England.3 Peter was issued a temporary passport on 28 January 1949 to travel to Brazil from London on 25. February 1957. His address at the time was High Pines Warwicks Bench in Guildford.2 He married Fleur Caroline Mountain in 1955 in Westminster, London, England.4 Dane and Fleur lived in 1956 in 8 Chelsea Embankment, Kensington, London, England. Peter and Caroline left Southampton on 19 March 1959 on board Queen Mary bound for New York.5 Dane flew on a British Airways aeroplane BA 405 to La Concha, Puerto Rico on 13 March 1961. His address was at the time 14 Warwicks Bench, Guildford. He returned on 26 March.6 In 2002 Dane and Fleur were still living in Busbridge Lakes House, Hambledon Road, Godalming, Surrey, England.7 He died on 2 July 2014 in Godalming, Surrey, England, at age 87.8

     Paula Douetil was born on 5 December 1923 in India.1 She was the daughter of Philip Victor Douetil and Dorothy Violet Grinling.1 She was baptised in 1924 in St Paul, Calcutta, India.1 Paula spent the war years with her mother in Wonersh Chase and worked for Vickers and I understand was a driver for Barnes Wallace as was her great fried Bettu Cain. She kept a diary during 1945 and part of her entry for16 May reads 'We have been so lucky its almost too wonderful to be true'. Her brother Barry had recently returned home safely.2 Colin and Paula sailed 1st class from Southampton onboard Canton bound for Singapore. Colin was an industrialist and they gave their address as Wonersh Chase, Wonersh.3 She married Colin Drake Yarrow in 1948 in Surrey, England, It is believed Colin and Paula had two children and spent a fair chunk of their married life together in Malaya.4,5 Colin and Paul lived in 1960 in Danes Manor, Maidenhead Road, Windsor, Berkshire, England.6 She and Colin Drake Yarrow were divorced.5 She died in 2002 in 62 Hillmead, Horsham, Sussex, England.7 The funeral of Paula Yarrow took place on 2 May 2002 in St John the Baptist, Wonersh, Surrey, England.8
