He was a physician and naturalist of distinction. When he retired in 1876, Dr John G Sinclair Coghill remained as consultant and senior member of the medical staff for over 20 years until his sudden death in 1899.4 He was listed as head of household in the 1891 census in St Catherines House, Church Street, Ventnor, Isle of Wight, England. John was a registered physicial living wth his wife and children. A Lieutenant in the Indian Army named William L Jackso and two sisters Selina E H and Mary A Gimlette were visiting.      Roberta Riddell was born circa 1882 in England.1 She married Harold S Coghill, son of John George Sinclair Coghill and Agnes D Darling, on 18 November 1915 in Kensington, London, England, after the banns had been read. The ceremony was witnessed by Charles Rowland Paterson Mitchell, Elizabeth Riddell and Mary Coghill Hawkes. Harold was a doctor of medicine living at 53 Colherne Court. His father J G Sinclair Coghill was dead but had been a physician. Roberta lived at 50 Palmerston Place in Edinburgh. Her father William Riddell was also deceased but had been an indigo planter.2 Her husband Harold died in 1919. Margaret and Roberta sailed second class on board the ship 'Ranpura' sailing on 17 February 1928 in London to Tangier giving Orchard Hotel W1 as their address.1 She was buried in Dean Cemetery, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, Harold and Roberts were buried under the same gravestone.3

     Norman Sinclair Coghill appeared in the 1881 census in Glyngarth, Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, England. He was a pupil.1 He was born on 1 August 1869 in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.2 He was the son of John George Sinclair Coghill and Agnes D Darling. He was a son of John George Sinclair Coghill and Agnes D Coghill in the 1871 census in 24 Heriot Row, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.3 He was the son of Agnes D Coghill in the 1901 census in 35 Morningside Park, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.4 He married Anne Jane Tomlinson Wood on 18 February 1905 in Bombay, India.5 Norman and Anne sailed from Southampton on board 'Christiaan Huygens' on 14 October 1932 bound for Genoa in Italy. Norman was a retired Lt Col and theu gave their address as 3 West Bolton Gardens SW5.6 Norman and Anne arrived in Southampton on 3 April 1933 on board 'Johan van Oldenbarnevelt' from Algiers, Norman was a retired Colonel amd they gave their address as 6 Pall Mall London SW1.7 He died on 7 December 1936 in 2 Beaumont Street, St Marylebone, London, England, at age 67 his usual address was St George's Hotel, West Bolton Gardens in South Kensngton.8,9 His estate was probated on 17 February 1937 to Lloyds Bank Ltd. His effects were valued at £4,939 8s.9

     Lucy James Sparshott was born on 10 September 1834.1 She was baptised on 5 November 1834 in Chelsea, London, England.2 She married James George Hawkes, son of George Hawkes and Lucy ..., on 2 November 1854 in St Paul, Deptford, London, England, after a licence had been issued. The ceremony was witnessed by Edward Charles Sparshott and Margueritta Symons Sparshott. James was a widower and like his father George Hawkes a gentleman. Lucy was a minor and her father James Sparshott was a paymaster in the Royal Navy.3,4 Her husband James died in 1879 in Auckland, Christchurch, New Zealand.5 Lucy is listed with John Septimus a clerk as living in Fisher Street in Papanui in 1896.6 She died in October 1918 in Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand, at age 84.5,1 She was buried in Barbadoes Street Cemetery, Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand.1
