| I have collected
all the entries in the wills index from the books and microfiche form 1858
- 1996. After that date they appear on the three computers
located in the building. Sadly on the last three occasions they have
all been busy, but I now discover that you can only search by forename and
surname so I will need to do more preparation before I go again. So
far I have 408 entries and where I have managed to link the will I have
provided details in the narratives. |
| Will indexes are
great for indentifying relatives.
The earlier entries give far more
information that the later. It was here that I found James Greethead
alias Leotard Bosco. This led me to finding him and his wife on the
census in 1881 under the names of Leotard and Mary
Bosco.

| Wills prior to
1858 are found in many places including record offices and the National
Archives (TNA) I have copies of all the Greathead (21), Greated (3),
Greathed (5), Greatheed (14) wills from TNA. The will for Edward
Greathed is 63 pages long. |
