13 July 2008 - Compton
Abbas |
With no special flyins on the
calendar we decided to visit Compton Abbas since it was a nice day.
We routed via Stockbridge, South of Salisbury descending on the dead side
for Runway 26. |

|
Wind was light and there were
a few visitors already on the field. We had lunch outside chatting
to a gentleman who had ridden in on his motorbike. Compton seemed to
have more bikers than aviators that day. |

|
We had parked next to a fine
specimen of a Flitzer. Not sure whether we had seen this one one
before? |

|
After lunch we had a gentle
cruise back towards Popham where on the downwind leg for 26 we viewed the
Red Arrows flying "slightly" faster than us in transit from
Fairford to Goodwood. We landed and took on fuel and had afternoon
tea chatting with John Morley. |

|
Back at base we washed the
plane, the flies are definitely about and make quite a mess of the
windscreen and leading edges. A good days flying |
